I was thinking of doing the same thing but i don't have a window close to my PC. Is it ok to leave the PC outside? Will it break from -40 temps?

the only thing is you would have to watch out for condensation.

If it snows, then you're screwed. and condensation will not occur if you computer is all the way outside. But if you bring your computer in after its been outside, then condensation will start to build.

if room temp is > than CPU temp then you'll get condensation. What I would do is put the computer closer to the window, and have a 3rd hose running as an exhaust to vent it all outside. the outside of the case is gonna get a bit of condensation though I'll bet.

A better idea is just leave your computer outside...
