Default Turn HS into waterblock

Heatsink has much more surface area than normal waterblock, so if I turn it into a waterblock will I see any drop in temps?

AHHHH!!! Thrilla you din't put the copyright logo! JK watercooling the fins? would suck, because they can only take so much heat of the cpu, not fast enough to bother watercooling them

Then what if I put the heatsink directly on the CPU without the heatpipe?

It wouold be just like a wateblock accept for you won't get as much performance because waterblocks have small "turbines" to get the water to hit the heatsink as fast as possible for more water flow over the copper/aluminum.
PS: excuse the spelling on aluminum....I don't know if i spelled it right

tylor360

*EDIT* if you have crazy high water flow you could get that to perform like a normal waterblock.

The fins would slow/disrupt the flow of water.

That's why i said if he had crazy GPM water pump he could get it up to par with a waterblock, he would just need a good pump.

Then can I just use a really crappy K6 heatsink? It doesn't have all those fins.
Will I see any temp difference?
