Hello , I saw the back of some motherboards using low profile heatsink to cool the back of the Northbridge and the back of the CPU , can be useful or not ? , thank you for the answer

they are more for mounting purposes... not really for cooling... no use to add a heatsink to the back when there is nothing to cool

I can't imagine it would be of any benefit since the heat xfer thru the board is minimal compared to the top of the chip, AND there's usually no airflow in that part of the case.

Some high-end cases are coming with mounting options for air-cooling the back of the motherboard. I would say that a little extra couldn't hurt, and may help eliminate a few hot spots.

Those backplates exist predominantly for mounting the heatsink on the other side. My guess would be you would have minimal heat dissipation through the mounting hardware from one heatsink to the other, but since the backplates are metal they have to be insulated, which would allow almost no direct heat transfer from the chip through the PCB. So sure, if a mobo comes with one theres certainly no reason to proclaim it useless, but I would hardly go running out to buy one as the next big thing in air cooling.

I don't see any airflow though... sure, I see the hole, but there isn't any fan to push any air through there... there is no air passing through there to cool the back of the motherboard
But having a fan there and adding a heatsink to the back of the motherboard are two seperate things... adding airflow to a case is always good, but adding a heatsink to everything you can isn't
