I was thinking about trying to make some kind of heatsink out of alluminum cans and see if it could outperform the Stock intel heatsink or better.
__________________What could I use for the base? I have tons of stuff lying around, just have to find it ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: Cans will not be used for the base, copper will be used. The cans are for the fins. Basic Idea so far: Get a little block of copper the right size, then use a drill to drill into it some, then find long copper bolts, If I drill slightly smaller than the size of the bolt I should be able to thread it into the block, then the fins will go on the bolts, the threading will hold them into place possibly, If not I will find a way for it to work. I will use one of those heavy duty clamp things to get the fins perfectly flat and make sure they are cut evenly. The only things I actually need are copper bolts, I don't know where I can get them, but I know brass more popular in bolts. Will Brass work?

For the base, use a piece of cheese.

Um... I'll vote yes, only if you videotape/youtube it and use all proper safety precautions.
I want to see the processor explode shooting the can across the room, cause... it'd be funny. Oh, and be ready to buy a new motherboard/processor. And anything else that took can shrapnel. Like your pet cat.

Use a copper base flat and some pipes connecting to metal sheets that have been cut from cans and strighten out by yourself. It most likely will not work anyway and will destroy your CPU in seconds.

I had actually thought about doing this, lol. Alu can scraps and pre 1982-pennies. Unfortunately alu cans are coated w/ a polymer sealer IIRC, so unless you want to srtip them and then flatten um... yeah, no...
edit: Also modern CPUs are supposed to have a built in thermal shut-down, so theoretically he couldnt kill his CPU by overheating it. I definitely wouldn't chance it tho.

don't forget to put aluminum foil on your ram. You can't neglect your ram.

Maybe a cooler that covers the ram and cpu all at once!
