Default Cold air intake from outside?

Hi, I live in Scotland where the weather is quite frankly not the best, average temp is around 8c all year, (with it hitting about -5c in Winter), I was wondering if instead of using a 120mm exhaust fan in my system if I could have a tube intaking cold air from outside into my case?

Obviously I'd reverse all my fans so that the air was extracted out the front and so on.

But what do you think guys? Would this work? Also, weather is never humid in Scotland, ever.

Thanks.

cold air should enter from below, you can put the air intake to get external air, but never invert the flow

I think it will work great. I opened the patio door once at my house during the winter and my CPU load temps decreased by 10c! So imagin cold scottish air being directly put into the PC case. WOW! It will seriously cool things way down. Watch out for mousture in the air tho, it could damage the inside of the pc with moust air and the pc may even blow up. (just covering myself lol)

As long as you don't get condensed moisture already in the air (rain or mist), you should be fine. Condensation occurs when air is cooled down, forcing the moisture out of the air. So blowing cool air on a warm PC will actually cause the relative humidity of the air to decrease...or so my physics class taught me a few years back.

Good luck!

Yeah i agree, i would pump air in from the front, past your hdd bays and then force it up, probably through your psu. You could reverse the fan in it so it drew the warmer air up and out the back. i am sure it would give you a lot better temps in your case. Also you can get those tablet and powder things that are ment to draw moisture from the air and shove them in the intake pipe somewhere incase your worried about that.

As long as you have positive case pressure the condensation would form on the outside of the case. The problem is when you shut down and the warm room air is allowed to enter the case thus condensing on the cooler computer parts inside the case. You can compensate for this by lowering the room temp or allowing warmer air into the system gradually and maintaining air movement within the case.

I am not sure, I have heard of "condensation filter" before, I don't remember, but its pretty large.
