Default Watercooled TRUE?

Bored so might try this, thats if you guys think it'll work.

Basically the plan is :

1. Take an old TRUE or any other large heatsink

2. Encase it in a water tight plastic box

3. Drill 2 holes in oposite sides of the plastic box for 2 barbs

4. Attach it to the motherboard and water cooling loop

5. Check to see if it works.

Because a TRUE in my opinion absorbs more heat then the little CPU water block its a better tool for the job and aswel as carrying more heat away from the CPU it also has a bigger surface area so it should transfer more heat to the water??

Fail....

You are just adding a lot more thermal resistence.

Instead of just:
CPU-> block -> water

You are increasing the path the heat must take, making it:
CPU -> heatsink base -> heatpipe -> fins -> water

Good idea in theory but the waterblock does not transfer heat; the radiator does. The water transfers the heat away from the block and to the radiator where it is dissipated (by cooling the water).

I think someone already made a thread like this but was doing it differently. Either way do it and post some pictures would be fun to look at, will probably fail miserably though.

Yep, this - and also the weight of water to enclose a True.

Well said. Water cooling is good because the water comes in close contact with the block base which allows maximum heat transfer.
