would it be possible to use the portable ice maker as a chiller?

Unless you've got a super fast icemaker the water's just going to heat up over time.

I doubt it but post up the pictures.
I dont think that it will put out enough BTU's. I think most people would need at least 2000, and that is for above ambient temps. to go sub zero I need 5000, and my processor only puts out at max 125w TDP.

check it out bro...
I think you may have something there depending on how that thing works...if you can somehow set it up to drop out a cube or 2 of ice every few mins then you could figure out a way to set up a waterfall overflow for your res and the extra water could run out a drain or window or something. It says its capable of making 33lbs of ice in a 24 hour period. that means it puts out more then a lb of ice an hour....I believe that could be a great addition to a bong chiller(because of the open loop).

how do they work??? explain how you use it. Do you push a button? do you have to close a lid to keep it cold inside? does it hook up to a hose?
