Default Wall of Fans

Has anyone every constructed a side of a case entirely out of fans? I was thinking about using either 120mm or 80mm and having half of them blowing in and the other half blowing out. Can a 650w power-supply handle it? Could I just daisy chain them all on the molex?

been done, and probably loud, pointless, and barely any better than a properly setup case.

*sorry, not trying to rain on your parade. if you decide to try it, ill def sub. to the thread to see how it turns out, thats for sure.

Well. It would take 16 120mm fans to cover the side of my case. About 8 of them wouldn't be blowing anywhere, but 8 of them would be blowing right over the motherboard/heatsink. I don't see how it could result in worse cooling.

The way the case siding is, I could probably dremel out the plexiglass and fit in about 6.

i have always been taught you are suppose to equalize the + and - pressures to best benefit from an air cooling setup, but iv been on water for sometime now, so im not quite up to par on the whole, air cooling thing. however my secondary pc(q6600@3.6|T.R.U.E.|UD3P|9600GSO) is in a nearly STOCK NZXT tempest, and its does wonderful with 3x120mm blowing in, and 1x120mm|2x140mm as exhaust..

only thing to do, is try and see..

The problem with the smilodon is that it only has 1 80mm fan slot for an exhaust. There's another couple spaces for fans but do to the size of the Mugen and the graphics card I can't use them effectively.

i would def do a couple 120mm up top for exhaust then if you have the available room, man 1x80mm exhaust, thats icky..

*after looking at the case a bit, i would try to fit at least a 92mm back there, and remove the grill entirely, add a 120mm blow hole up top, remove the grill on the side, and add a nice wire grill, and remove the filter thing in front, that should free up a bit of air flow. id do all that before cutting up your entire pc. but thats just my thoughts.

It would make more sense to just make a side panel that is wired, and then mod it to stick on 5-10 120mms. Making an entire side of fans just sounds difficult and with little reward.

You should only do it if all the fans are LED. That way you could hire strippers since your case will look like Vegas.

Have an abit board that isn't working anymore and are sad that you can't RMA it? Dont' be sad, abit is still honoring RMAs! I know, I know, I was surprised too!
