Default Curiosity might kill the cat

Just curious if it might be possible to use copper anti-seize stick as a thermal paste. It is rated to handle temps up to 982c before it breaks down. Has anyone ever heard or seen someone use it?

You could try it but I doubt it would be very good. It's probably just copper suspended in some kind of grease, and grease sucks for heat conduction. If you're gonna try it, make sure you have some alcohol beforehand to get rid of the grease, as that will screw any other pastes you try on the HS.

Thermal paste is overrated - you'll probably find it giving same temps (±3) as most other TP's.

It has been tried before. There is a review somewhere where someone used all kinds of crazy things as TIM, including peanut butter, toothpaste, preserves, and that grease you are talking about. The grease was one of the worst performing ones, even with a lineup like that. Steer clear.

I believe the tester used ketchup and found it worked very well until cooked haha.

Yes, stay away the grease will counteract the thermal properties of the copper.

Thank you all. I was just going through my garage getting some supplies for a mod im doing and remembered I had it from when I was rebuilding my old 61 Tbird. I was just gonna get a free pc off of craigslist to test it but if it has been done then there is no need.
