Default Dual 20cm Fans

Ok so today i saw a deal at a drug store for a 20 cm high output fans.(and yes its cm not mm) i was thinking about replacing the side intake panel and the back panel for the motherboard so that it circulates a crapload of air through the case.

has anyone done this or know if it will work?

Will your back panel accommodate a 20cm fan? I mounted several 120mm fans on my side panel; what I found is that you'll want to mount it fairly forward, or else the air just goes in the corner and out the back without transporting any heat. I'd suggest you have it blow directly on the RAM and in front of the CPU fan intake. If it were me, I'd mod it to go on the side and front panel, not the back... I'm assuming you already have fans back there anyways (if not, then ya, you need it there).

This fan takes up the entire side of the computer. so there is a ton of air is being forced in. i wanted to mount the other one on the other side so the case has sufficient exhaust.

Oh, behind the mobo... I get it. I'm not really sure that will give you any benefit. My suggestion would be to make them both intakes and just have a good number of exhausts in the back (don't forget you'll have GPU and PSU exhaust there too, so it's more than just the single or double fan slot. The air will move properly (you'll need front intakes too, just to push the air backwards), it'll just be pressure positive. See, if you do it as an exhaust, I'd be worried that you'll be getting cool air just wrapping around the parts that don't matter more than anything else.

I haven't tried it myself though... so it might be a good experiment, just try it your way, get some temperature readings, and then flip the fan around and compare the two. Let me know what you find. If there is a large advantage to this, I'd be interested, it should be a fairly easy case mod.

Ah, ok. 20in is a bit bigger. Still try the tests. It should be interesting.

Better yet...

1. Go caseless
2. Hang your motherboard/PSU/other stuff from hooks in the ceiling
3. Point 20x of those fans at them from all directions
4. ????
5. Profit!
