would it work if i try and cool an air cooled pc by makig a 120mm fan intake air passed through a small watercooling type radiator filled with petrol or meths etc?
would the radiator cool down the air being sucked in by the fan? i dont know much about cooling etc, but my cpu is reaching 65oC in this weather. any answers are appreciated. thanks. |

Wait,... What?
Edit: Ok, I've read your post like 4 times now, and I still don't understand. What I can do is attempt to explain how rads are used for cooling. Basically heat gets transfered to your rad via coolant (for alot my ppl distilled water),while the coolant is circulating through the rad it gets cooled using fans to push or pull air through the rad thus removing the heat with it. Hope that helped.

He wants to cool the air entering his case by passing it through a frozen radiator (or just really cold).
1. It would work. 2. It would fail miserably It will work because air passing through it would be cooled a LITTLE. It will fail because any cooling element will probably have condensation dripping inside the case. And it couldnt cool the air enough to make a real difference.

the air will be cooled because it wont be the same air... the fan will be sucking the air out of the case and drawing cold air from outside in to replace the hot air. So basically by putting a radiator on it all you are doing is hindering the airflow of the fan...

Basically he wants to cool the air getting to his heat sinks, the idea is great but the execution is horrible, a better alternative is just get an AC and pipe the cold air to your PC.

ok, i know it sounds like a stuoid question, and in my defence i do know a litle bit about various cooling methods, it was just a question and a vague idea that was in my head, i dont overclock this pc as im not much into it, just thought it would be a good place to ask for opinions.
thanks anyway though, didnt think it would work lol. |
