Hey all Ive been checking out the forums here for some time just registered today. i noticed Mootsfox's thread by a referal from my pc groups forum. about his cooling mod from 2007. so i figured this would be a good spot to post my forced air cooling solution.
__________________here is the actual rig after it was built before i made any mods or ocing. ![]() My desk looks like crap but its functional ![]() My insides with the lights off before i made cable moves really ugly ![]() This is after i decided to move the cables around some seems my psu doesnt have really great cabeling options for the haf ![]() My 3dMarkVantage score ![]() My3dMark06 score with my oc to 4.2ghz ![]() After it was all said and done with i had my oc to 4.2ghz stable on Intel Burn test at 5 trips but my temps were croaching on 85c so i felt it was a bit much and back it down to 4.0 cause i couldnt find a stable oc with different voltages and cool temps. But onto the real reason this post is in the cooling experiments forum. I decided to see what kind of temps i could get on straight air cooling. and as of right now as im righting this my cpu temp on HWMonitor is 20c 30c 36c & 36c on the cores. and below i will post the appsolute ghetto mod i did but im not done it will look better when im finished. My home made Air duct that is redirecting air from my air conditioner to the side fan on my Haf 932 has my Case idle temps at 25c and my GTX260 @ 30c ![]() This is the final mock up before i decide whether or not i go with a more permanent build of either steel or aluminum and paint it black with some design on it. Yes its ghetto but it works awsome. ![]() This is my regular cooling with my ambient room temps of 75c with my air conditioner on normal, The 78c temps kinda had me worried so thats why i did this air duct ![]() these are my idle temps with the air duct first in ![]() This is my final Burn test where my temps were in mid 60s with a 5 trip burn test i was very happy with this ![]() Yeah this is my first post and i prolly wont make many that often but i wanted to thank everyone here who gave me ideas on my ocing of my cpu to 4.0ghz. I did manage to obtain a 4.3ghz oc and got a score of 20550 on 3dmark 06 but it wasnt stable plus my temps and voltages were higher then i had liked. On a side note this "white trash air snorkle" as its been referred to by on of my friends who is a member here *cough* Trapofmind *cough* has been installed on my tower now for a total of 6 days and has worked flawlessly even with a 96 degree day like we had on monday. I havent seen any condensation as of yet, and i usually turn it on only when i need some xtra cooling. which isnt often

Nice work, ugly, but nice.
How about using a piece of flexible dryer vent? Or even better, make one out of Plexiglas.

Condensation wont happen, as the whole case is being cooled. Now if the heatsink was say, 30* and the room was 80*, then we would have a problem.
