Default Reapplied TiM on NB/SB, Purple TiM??

Hey everyone I finished reapplying TiM onto my XFX 750i Nb/sb. Must I say, the stock TiM was nasty. (See Pics)

About to take coolers off....

BAM! Purple TiM, it was solid... I had to remove by gently scraping it with a knife

Finished applying the AS5, about to put the heatsinks back on.

Look what XFX did to be crafty, never noticed it until now lol.

Any1 know a program to monitor nb/sb temps? I wanna see how cool I am running now.

The purple stuff is a phase change TIM. It melts under load to fill in gaps better.

AS5 is likely to be a good bit better, but it really does not look like you cleaned the old stuff off very well, this is likely hurting performance. When moving to a new TIM, there should be NO trace of the old material.

As for temp monitoring, I'd try whatever came with the board, or cpuid's HWmonitor.

Aww... I want some purple paste

Anyway, to monitor NB/SB temps, I Everest does (though maybe only the ultimate edition) and maybe HWmonitor too

MCH is for the SB, can't remember what it is for NB though.

Sorry for thread hijack but is there any way to get phase change TIM off properly? It's used on my old mobo which has an overheating northbridge.
Thanks.

Edit: Arcticlean makes some headway, but you're gonna need a lot of it :\
If you can get cheap 100% isopropyl that'd be even better...
