Default LN2 on stock Intel 775 cooler?

This is a stock (and what I believe to be) a discontinued 775 cooler.

Stupid question. Could I possibly put dry ice or LN2 in this in this concave dent in the cooler? It obviously won't function for more then a few minutes and won't cool as well as a real $700 pot, but do you guys think it would work?

It would work allright. But make sure nothing touches the motherboard. And how do you feel like putting some new dry ice in there every once in a while ?

What I am really worried about is the LN2 bubbling and spilling out onto the mobo.

if you knock that copper peice out it will be a lot easier to use,

Insulating that heatsink will be hard if left whole which will equal moisture

Really? Well either way, I doubt I will have a constant supply of dry ice, and this is only for a 1 time thing. And plus, I already own one of these

It's worth a try. Don't forget to protect your PC though...

Wouldnt it be suceptible to cracking? Seems awfully thin to be exposed to sub-zero temps.

Protect as in insulate to prevent condensation? What could I use to do this? I would rather this be a homemade project rather then a "go out and buy stuff" project, no matter how cheap it is. Or would insulation even be necessary with a tiny pot with a little amount of dry ice?

Well , protect as in protecting your PC. Dry ice bubbles and might spill over your motherboard...
