I want to see this project realized

He could run a water chiller at sub zero temps and use the oil bath to prevent condensation. He could also directly chill the oil by putting an evaporator into the tank. Both have been done.

If you want to do it just for kicks; that's fine. Not much to it. Put the motherboard and or powersupply into a container of some type and just pour oil in. To get decent temps you will need at least 5 gallons or so...10 gallons to get good temps. I'd just throw that cooling the iol idea out. It won't work to well. Sort of like if I cooled the water in my loop, but turned my pump off. You will need near industrial strength pumps to move the oil to where it would actually have cool oil hitting the heat sinks.
don't immerse your hard drive though. Oils will eventually seep into it

You need to read the original post again. He is talking about using phase cooling to chill an oil bath to subzero temperatures.

Just the other day someone started a thread on this without searching first....
Without a very good system for removing heat from the oil it will just continue to rise in temp...your idea of jetting components with cold oil will be hard to do.
People tend to do this for science fairs etc to prove a point few keep it running for their main system.

He could use a regular heat sink with fan in the oil bath. I think he would be better off using the air conditioner to build a water chiller and the oil bath to prevent condensation issues.

He could also do that, but it would not give as good results as directly chilling either the oil bath or a cooling loop.
All of you are right though, the OP could have googled this and found all the information he needs to build this and also to decide if it is worth the trouble.
The OP should have put this in the phase cooling section, not in the experiments section.
edit: It seems like a lot of threads like this are started by new members who propose very expensive rigs. No offense intended to the OP, but I doubt he has the resources or intention to actually build a refrigerated oil bath cooling system for an i7 computer. I could be wrong but I'll believe it when I see pics and a work log.
