I need your help, the outside of my laptop is pretty gay.

Mainly it's this back of the screen part I have problems with.

I want to paint it but I've only ever painted a few plastic parts and after about a week or so of handling them they go to looking like crap. What I want is a nice paint job that will last and last and last. Anything but the crappy brushed plastic look it has right now. I dunno how you are at airbrushing a painting in there, that'd be a nice extra, but I kind planned to put one of these Large Flame appliqués on it anyways. I'm partial to Orange and might even go for a chrome finish if it's possible on plastic. Oooh, or Orange with chrome flames.

Any idea price-wise how much this might run me? I'd ship you the piece of plastic (it's just the back of the screen) and run the laptop off my 22" Sceptre until it came back.

Well my major problem with painted plastic is that eventually it gets all smudgy and doesn't keep that nice first painted look as you go about your daily life touching it and what not. I think my problem was too many coats of paint or something.

If you think it'll eventually get smudged then I'm not going to worry about it and go the stick on route with that carbon fiber looking stuff.

I just hate the "brushed plastic" with it's single strip of silver and EVEREX right on the back. Very funky looking to me.

Anyhow I was thinking Orange. That's my favorite color. As for pulling the laptop apart to send you the back piece I can handle that one easy. Probably be next week before I can afford it though.

Ah well I was hoping to keep it very plain. The silver strip and logo are already very hectic for me. I'm one of those minimalist people.

I just know if I don't seek professional help in this the laptop is going to end up like the Haxbox and the USB key that have sort of a coagulated appearance to them now.

EDIT: This is the Orange I'm going for. Not General Lee bright orange but a more, uhm darker orange? (burnt? I'm just not good with color names so here's a picture)

Mmm Buttahskotsch. So what do you think? Wanna PM me a price? the plastic is the size of a 17" widescreen maybe .5" bigger along the edges.
