Default Client Build Log for Liqwidstyx

Hai Guyz

This is a client worklog for Liqwidstyx. He drove all the way from Philly to drop off his baby and have me upgrade the cooling system to handle his Quad Rig.

The case is a TT Kandalf LCS Liquid Fusion. What seemed like a straightforward request some revealed itself to have a number of challenges. Nothing ole Cyber could not handle though

First I will give you all a photoblast of the the before.

Liqwid had done a few things to doll up his baby. So I culd see he was not tied to having a stock box.

You'd think a 360 rad would handle a quad...but apparently the winky thin tubing and so so pump as well as an alumunum finned oil-cooler style coil all added up to fail when presented with 300 Watt thermal.

The tubing TT uses is like norprene--very tough and nearly impossible to collapse and the rad has inlet'outlet facing straight up so TT can plumb the lines in a channel beside the door.

The bolsters Liqwid attached inisde hide the least attractive parts of the case and a snarl of spaghetti.

One thing that will be easy to change is the non LED 90mm fan...

I think a gigagntic ad for CyberDruidPC wouold look HAWT on this panel (JK)

the top panel is going to get some holes drilled in it..you'll see why.

I think Liqwid did a good job considering what few tools he has to use. But I have something else in mind

This is what those bolsters hide...the usual...nothing to it.

Liqwidstyx had commissioned me to change out the stock TT cooling loop with something much more Uber. He provided me a Danger Den block for his 8800GTS and an XSPC 360 radiator, a FuZion CPU waterblock and a host of other essentials for a new better loop.

First order of business would be to carefully disassemble the entire rig starting with the door/radiator assembly.

Then I would need to make all that wiring disappear.

The next steps I did not photograph. I laid out holes for the cable management and for a very special reservoir that Liqwidstyx wants to showcase on his rig. I laid out the holes and bored holes and filed and deburred the edges and test fit the reservoir.

There's a little more to it though. I needed to re-tap the threads in the reservoir ports to 1/4 BSPP to accept metal O-Ring barbs.

There's 5 ports to tap...and then all the talings to remove from the interior

The bottom gets lit by a 5mm UV LED.

Let's pause for a brief intermission.

I would need to mount the pump. I choose to use the existing FDD tray as it is stout piece of work and would make a nice landing for the bracket I would fabricate from acrylic.

Now it was time to start putting things back together to be able to lay out the loop.

I knew Liqwidstyx still wanted to hide the bay side and I had an idea I wanted to try.

Mirror can be pretty nice--if it's not overdone. Plus it will do some nice things with the lights that get stealthed into the case at the end.

Everything is easily removable so basically changing the accent color is as easy as putting in three different panels. There is a back panel between the moboo and HDD bays and there is a floor panel and the large side panel. Lights on the inside of the door and along the bottom and side of the case will make the rig pop with the flip of a switch.

Tribal Overkill remade the reservoir entirely. The only original piece is the coil.He slanted the base to improve the spin action.

I fabricated some special plugs for the reservoir to receive the LEDs.

I made up some leads sheathed and heatshrinked them and inserted them into some 3/8 UV reactive green tubing.

The UV LEDs arescrewed intot he acrlic plugs and slipped through the grommets on the top panel and then plugged into the molex. To service the reservoir simply unplug the leads and unscrew the plugs...

I made up a switch panel for the CCL lights. I installed a pair of 12" UV tubes in the chassis and a pair of 2" UV tubes on the door--one in and one out--and a pair of 4" tubes one green one blue to accent the green/blue scheme.

I cut a piece of aluminum to shroud the exterior UV light over the Liquid Fusion logo, sanded it with 220 wiped it with acetone and squirted it with self-etching primer and then flashed two coats of Flex Black on it.

I mounted the lights and started working on the harness.

Two of the leads go to the door and one goes to the chassis.

The leads are color coded male and female molex pins covered in heatshrink.

Here's the UV.

And here's the green/blue.

Close ups oof the UV effect through the mesh of the front panel.

With the green/blue tubes on the tubing takes n a strange greenish cast.

With the green'blue of the tubing is a diferent shade altogether.

The shroud does a good job of intensifying theglow of the logo on the window.

Right now I am running the loop to deaerate and check fr leaks. So far so good

Great work CD as always

Whodie - its a SpinFX, there were a very limited number made by TribalOverkill.

Just to warn you, liqwidstyx, some of the reservoirs are actually falling apart now, due to the glue T.O. used not being strong enough I believe...so if you see a leak you know why. You can get them sorted out though when they break I think - maybe worth contacting the retailer and just checking out this story?

Loving what you have done with the res CD BTW, its an amazing idea
