Default Top Complete

I guess I got over my extremely wide streak of bad luck with acrylic and completed the top.

Have a look.

Nita helped me install the standoffs and we put in the Mobo to get the fan centered over the CPU.

I like the layout of this case but I will need to make sure everything will fit without conflicts.

A pair of 120mm fans fits well beside the motherboard.

I used a bit of tape to mark the center point and then measured from the sides so I could transfer the marks to the top.

An acrylic panel goes on here..so I will need to cut out the handle ridge.

I determined where the layer of UV would nest into the cut out I will make in a moment. I've drilled a pilot hole to tansfer the center to the acrylic parts.

The black piece gets an over sized hole.

The UV Blue piece is inset underneath it.

The steel panel gets cut to receive the UV piece in a moment.

Polished on the drill press with a flap wheel and rouge.

Both pieces polished and ready to assemble.

Time to change to a fine tooth bimetal blade.

Holes for the blade...

Now I am drilling holes to mount the acrylic to the top panel.

Acrylic drill bit to enlarge the holes

Flange head torx drive black oxide machine screws.

And there you have it. Shinier than a Rolls Royce Paint Job.

And on the stripped case to check fitment.

Mounting the filter using nylon retaining washers...really cool bit of hardware actually...and torx drive buttone head screws.

That will keep stuff out of the PC...

Seriously UV reactive too.

Both the inset piece of acrylic and the filter glow the same blue...

With the UV lamp on

With the lamp off.

That's about it for now. I have parts coming from California next week to complete the build.

*facepalm*

When I first looked through the pictures I thought there was a bigish gap between the fan filter and the black acrylic - now that I've looked at it closer, I realised it was actually the UV blue acrylic which looks sweet

Great idea CD.

Yeah the filters look a little dorky so I put it on from underneath. The whole assembly is held on with thumbnuts so cleaning the filter is a tool-less chore.

Now I need to wait on the side from TAP and I can continue the asembly. Looking to adhesive films at the moment. I cannot locate the screws in a handy way due to the internals of the case. My hope is they get the holes centered according too the take offs I FAXed or else I will have a hella lot more work to do to get them located.
