US Plastics order arrived but I could hardly belive my eyes when I saw they had neglected to send all th corrct hardware for the Quick Disconnct fittings...what a bummer.
It was too late tonight to gt them working on finding th prper parts. I have to wonder what kind of smacktard in shipping would ship only one finger nut and washer with two bulkhead fittings? The rest of the Aluminum arrived from McMaster too. I also received the special brazing rods so tomorrow might be a fun day for me...unless I set my shop on fire trying to braze up the frames... So at this point I have aluminum and lexan, QD fittings, tubing, hardware, fans, pump and should be ready to go. Still waiting on rads.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of the supplies are here. Still quite a few more items yet to arrive. Still to come: 2 x PA120.3 Radiators; Meanwell 150W 24V and Meanwell 100W 12V PSUs, 2 X Temperature Probes. Also waiting on media for the blast cabinet so I can etch on the Lexan panels. The Lexan pebble finish is only on one side..the other side is smooth but not precisely flat and would be an ideal surface for etching. I will be experimenting with the HTS-2000 fluxless brazing rods to see how they work for the frames. More in a bit

Yes but I am still working on them. I have a basic notion but I want to try a couple of different things: Integrate the reservoir into one of the panels for one. Exciting news: the blast media arrived. I spent the past few hours setting up the blast cabinet and testing it wit the 50 micron Aluminum Oxide. Wow...it works great...but I found out riht away what a mess it could be and had to spend a bit of time sealing the cabinet crevices: the grit is so fine it works it's way through tightened down screws and past gaskets and so on...a real nightmare. I may have to do the blast work outside which is no problem as I have a vey long air hose. The compressor had no problem keeping up which was a good thing to find out. My idea of using glass bead might have to be put on hold though as it will be a real chore emptying the cabinet a of media and cleaning and refilling it...not something I want to do often. I checked the blast effect on aluminum and acrylic: the effect on aluminum is really nice: almost like metallic paint. I just need to find the right coating to put on there to avoid tarnish later. I did a simple mask with some duct tape on acrylic and was surprised at how well it works. I might be able to simple tape out a panel and using an exacto knife to gently cut out a pattern...at least for simple things. The photoreactive mask is a little more involved so I need to take some time to reread the literature on the process so I do not waste and of the film. Part of what I need to do is work out the entire theme of the art that will go into the case. I am no longer certain about etching designs on the aluminum. To get a strong effect I would need to poish the metal first to a chrome like ginish and then mask it and etch it and then clear coat it. If I find an exciting enough pattern I might do that. But considering the amount of surface involved I am not sure I want to use up all the film I have on decorating the aluminum instead of the acrylic. Pretty nice that the cabinet is ready to go...but I have a lot of other things to do before I start etching stuff. More in a bit

Mua ha
Yes I think so. The Fed Ex could not get his truck up the mountain and WALKED up to deliver a pair of PA 120.3 radiators tonight...I gotta do something bout that...I feel bad for the guy. Anyway no luck at all brazing the aluminum: I need a better torch set up I think. Didn't have time to work on the porject today after that...been building another rig and it has the bench covered.

http://durafix.com/I have tried a similar product before and works on thicker aluminum. I don't know what you are using for brazing but this stuff is more like soldering.
