CD I wouldnt use Dasani in any loop what so ever. Its no better than tap water.

It is glorified tap water. Coca cola used to sell it in the UK, however;

Quote:
Dasani was launched in the UK in January 2004.

In March 2004, it became public through an article in The Independent newspaper that the tap water of Sidcup was being treated, bottled and sold under the Dasani brand name in the UK. Although Coca-Cola never implied that the water was being sourced from a spring or other natural source, they marketed it as being especially "pure". Hence, the public revelation of it being simply treated tap water caused a media stir.

UK authorities found a concentration of bromate in the product that could be considered harmful if consumed in large quantities. Dasani was potentially carcinogenic. Coca-Cola recalled half a million bottles and pulled the "Dasani" brand from the UK market on March 19, 2004.[2] Shortly after, plans to introduce the brand to Continental Europe were announced to have been canceled as well. Ironically, bromate was not present in the water before Coca-Cola's treatment process. During that process the bromate was produced from the water's bromide.

Coca-Cola intended to launch Dasani as a natural spring water in France and Germany, although this never went ahead after bad publicity in the United Kingdom.
Also

Quote:
Coca-Cola uses tap water from local municipal water supplies, filters it using the process of reverse osmosis and adds trace amounts of minerals, including magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt), potassium chloride (a sodium-free substitute for table salt), and common salt.
It may be purified to start with but then Coca Cola stuff a load of stuff back in again. Drinking tap water is far cheeper than buying it in a bottle.

Edit: Wikipedia ftw.

My wife bought a thousand bottles of it when we moved to the mountain...I dunno what she was thinking...over the past 3 years I have tried to use it up to regain some storage space on the porch.

Regardless of what they might have added to the UK brand I have read Consumer AReports testing on this product and it came out ahead of nearly all other filtered waters.

I've used the stuff for two years in all my own builds and I can attest from first hand experience that even after 9 months of use in a loop with no changes it doe not have any detrimental effect on the tubing or waterblocks or pump.

For client builds I generally use a non conductive coolant called PC Ice.

Since I tend to rework my own gear often I saw no reason to fuss with expensive coolants..and frankly having stacks of Dasani at hand is my only reason for using this over say Steam Distilled (which is reccommended and preferred by most PC LC Gurus).

Trace amounts of inert components are not an issue for my LC set ups...in general I add 10% G-10 or Zerex anyway...so what difference could a tiny amount of bromide make?

I do not drink Dasani lol. Our well water is far superior and loaded with Mountain-flavor.
