Thanks guys. I am taking a little detour with this build and instead of hdiing all my cabling I am going MilSpec with it

I want to build this just like it's a piece of exotic military equipment...and in that frame of mind I would want every piece of the rig accessable and properly installed. I am not going to hide stuff...I am going to make everything so nice that I don't need to hide it.

And rather than introduce a lot of lights I want to build some "fantasy" parts that emit light and add to the MilSpec mystique.

CD - Is that high temperature tape you've used to cover the outsides of the case or normal masking tape?

First mistake I made was to totally mask up a V2000 to be coated inside with normal maskin tape and dropped it off to be coated....

.....erm lol... after a brief conversation with the painters I went back home with it and peeled it all off again and just got the entire thing done in a single colour to save the hassle of re-doing it with high temperature tape!

Nice CD!

Being milspec, have you calibrated your wrenches and ziptie gun?

I've been ordering some more of the gear. After numerous emails we've settled on the external details to some degree.

The machine needs to have hot swappable drives, except for the VelociRaptor...so the above pictured IcyDock and a Tasty Lian Li Hot Swap 3-Device Bay will go in the front.

A BluRay and a DVD drive will occupy two more slots and the Seventh slot gets slammed full of military switches to toggle on the various lights. For instance the BlackFire fans UV LEDs are powered seperately, the two reservoirs are each going to be intensely lit and the VelociRaptor gets some lighting as well. More on that later.

I want the lighting on this machine to range from the sublime to insane...I want it to induce seizures at 30 meters...or lull you to sleep.

Up top I am seeing the Matrix Orbital inset toward the front followed by the Cold Fusion Generator lense and then the VelociRaptor set flush to the top with just the fins sticking up and a UV green plate over the actual drive edge lit from below.

Need to nail down a few more aesthetic details and i'll be able to divulge more

Sorry I was not ignoring Marcus...I've just been going back and forth from PPC to eMail to here and have not quite slowed down yet

Yeah I have quite a ways to go before this thing heads out to get coated. The Low Tack tape is strictly for protection. And the latest word is that we are going with the stock black exterior and a Hammertone Silver Blue that is almost Black for the interior.

Ordered more goodies. I have some acrylic coming for the reservoirs and some 8" CCL lights. I have the Lamptron Bulgin-type switches coming: 22mm Green Ring and 16mm Red Dot and the LL Hot Swap and the IcyDock...I did not order any Mil type switches as I want to ponder my lighting scheme further.

I am leaning toward translucent covers on the Mil type switch-covers and LED switches beneath. Thinking maybe orange and amber...already have red and green up front and plenty of purple and UV and UV reactive Green...a little amber/orange might look just right.

What I would like to source is a slide type potentiometer...I've only found ones for Volume controls...nothing for lighting purposes...

I also need to find a small yet powerful strobe that will run off 12VDC
