Arrow Solstice Give Away Technical Thread (Log, Q & A)

The Solstice Give Away from OverClock.Net and CyberDruidPC has started and will end on December 14th. Just post in the thread linked above and that's it.

I saw a question in the the thread. The proper place to ask questions would be on this thread. Post once only in the Give Away thread.

Here is the design of the Tech Station you will win.

The design is still being refined. Updates will be posted.

What the winner will receive is the techstation complete with removable motherboard tray. No fans, no switches or other acroutemonts will be provided.

Construction of the Vertech Rev. 2 will be logged below in the reserved spaces. (Please refrain from posting for a few minutes after this intial post so I can "claim" the next three or four posts.

Thanks for reading and Good Luck

Here's how the station is built

Here I have already fused two angles to a panel and am attaching the sides

Here I am laying out the internal bracing

Cutouts for the PSU fan on either side so the station can be loaded from either end

Gluing p the internal brace

The areas that are getting glued get masked for each piece that's fused...

Ready to start adding the channels that will secure the HDDs

At this point the station is ready to use. But I am going to add a couple more features for cooling

The angles being glued in are to stiffen the station but also provide a landing for either an Acrylic cover or for some channels I will use to make the tooless fan holder...

Checking the fit of the gear

The Mobo tray, PSU, Optical and Hard Drives can be inserted from either end

Almost done

TGhe mobo tray can be pulled out about half way and still is supported...this should aid in setting up the rig.

The extras will be covered in the next set

Here is the assmebled unit. It can be set on anyof the three faces providing Horizaontal, ATX and reverse ATX mounting capability

These two notched channels allow for any size 25mm thick fan to be positioned anywhere you like over the mobo. No tools required

One final extra: a channel that will accept a pair of 120mm fans for cooling both the back of the mobo and the HDDs.

Not that the stiffening angles also allow for a Radiator to be mounted using some more angles...or by making the appropriate fan holes in a piece of acrylic that could also be used for a dust sheild.

Almost done. Just a couple more details which will be covered in the next set.

How would you accept payment for shipping? Paypal or would US Postal Money Order work? (I ask simply because I can't stand Paypal...)

Are we looking at a top view of the station where the mobo would slide towards us or is this a side view with the top of the diagram being the front of the station?
