Powder Coat Your Case
![]() |
I am honored to have a commissioned build for a fellow Mod o the Monther Kimosabi
After some PMing we settled on a design. The radiators are XSPC 480s so this is going to be a large cooler. And will serve a s a pedestal for the case. I'll add pictures to this first post as I go along. First thing I did was order some veneer, the radiators and some Hardware from McMaster. Then I fabricated an aluminum frame to support the two radiators vertically on isolators. Big Fat Squishy Isolators. More to follow P![]() Concept Render if you can call that a render ![]() ![]() Skeletal View. Rads are side by side and vertical. ![]() Top Down View. Early sketch. Some things have changed. But the idea is the same. Expect deviations from the depictions.

![]() ![]() Fans can be mounted to each side. Isolators will be attached to the plywood enclosure with tee nuts. ![]() Pardon the rough edges. This piece is far from finished. But just to show how the rad frame can be slipped onto the isolators and snugged down with thumbscrews. ![]() As you can see the clearance between rad and thumbscrew will not allow for it to be completely removed. This is intentional as the screw will act as a guide when install the rad frame. ![]() The idea is to make the rad/fan assembly easy to install as a package with minimal fuss. ![]() These are nice but could be replaced with a standard hex head bolt. ![]() These get pounded into a precisely located hole on the exterior of the enclosure. These get hidden by other parts which I will detail later. ![]() ![]() These Fat Squishy Isolaters are M-F threaded. The male will screw into the T-nut and snug up against the interior of the enclosure. ![]() The frame is held together with Button Head Torx drive screws at the moment but I think I will change them out to match the screws that secure the Radiator. ![]() The reason I am using isolators bushings is to keep the fan noise from drumming the box. There will be about 1" of space on either side of the frame for Sonex Sound Dampening material. Ditto on the top and bottom. ![]() It's going to about 12" wide on the interior. ![]() And 24" tall on the interior. Add to each about 1-1/2" and that is the minimum outside dimension of the enclosure. But some extra bits will add some height to the unit...about another 3" overall. And there will be some hardwood accents to make the whole thing less boxey and more like a piece of fine furniture. A Tasty mahogany veneer will finish of the plywood exterior. I'll get more into the design of the enclosure in the next section.

Mock up of the enclosure. Dry Fitted with screws.
![]() ![]() ![]() Just to see what it will look like. Everything Birch gets veneered in Mahogany. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And that is how the rad is suspended inside the enclosure. Fans mount on the bracket side using M4 x 35mm screws. Or on the port side with M4 x 30mm screws. Still a ways to go. The enclosure gets addtional parts on the top and base. More soon. EDIT: Update ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edges are bound in Sappelle and the unit is about ready for veneer. More soon.

Thanks Pard. It's going to be a beauty.
EDIT: lulz You might want to turn down the volume for this one...because the background music is sure to get you up out of your seat cutting the rug with the nearest lady...
