i thought about doing something like that, but i was told that the wood holds in the heat so you end up having to make it ugly to get alot of venting. or maybe im just too lazy to go to all the trouble, or have better things to do.

 Waiting on the hardwood to arrive. The Norco and Card Reader for the build have arrived. I'll be binding the edges with oak and putting the cabinet together with a plate joiner. Not much to show at this point. More to come

The fun begins
Started glue up tonight. Had a number of distractions this week (all non PC related) and now can finally start the process of gluing on the trim to the ply panels I cut last week.
 Picked up this Freud Plate Joiner to facilitate assembly of the cabinet.  While not top of the line at $100 I can't complain.  Hardwood  Plywood  Let's put them together shall we...  I don't usually spline or biscuit edge trim but what the heck...  TitebondII a 1" brush, a rag, some water...  Oak is super absorbent and any glue will refuse the stain so I use masking tape to help me out.  Ready to go  You want to see the ooze. No ooze you probably needed more glue.  Then remove any excess glue. The 1/32 glue line will be easy to sand out.  One down  5 more to go  More tomorrow oh wait it's already tomorrow...

Got the shelves edged and some moldings started for the side panels. I decided to go heavier on the front edges of the sides to give it some more eye appeal. Router bit for the profile is on it's way.
 Set up the dado for the heavier front moldings   This will get run through the router then glued onto the leading edge of the side panel. The profile will be a partial radius.  Like this.  Shelves ready for routing  And more material to trim out the sides an make the cleat stock to retain the removable back panel. I know...not very exciting at this point but the way this stuff works is lots of prep then "all of a sudden" it looks like something More soon.

This man can do anything with his wood.
Looks to me this project will involve ALOT more glue and profiles than the Norserad and are you veneering this baby too?
