Default Thermometer and LN2 questions

1) Thermometers. Are they needed in any way other than curiosity and validation? I've seen UEI and Fluke recommended so far. Anyone know if these are reasonably accurate?

The digital units (from all the manufacturers) that I've been looking at report specs down to -200 C using J or K probes, but the actual J or K "probes" all seem to report specs of only -40C. What gives?

2) How much LN2 do you typically go through in a 6 hour CPU bench session? What if you're cooling NB too?

yes the digital thermometers are necessary. You'll encounter cold bugs/boots a lot with ln2, and you'll need that to troubleshoot it. Also, you'll need it to know your pull down temps, and when you can really start benching. 15-20L should be plenty for a 6hr session, and a good, cheap thermometer is a dt150 or dt200. I use a dt200 and it's a dual input thermometer.

Thanks.

I've realized that this will be inevitable for me. Now that I know what size dewar to get I can start camping ebay.

Slowly acquire equipment.....work on the wife.....clean the garage. Got a lot work to do.

With a household of science minded kids I can come up with other justifications (flimsy excuses) for a thermometer, dewar, and the LN2 itself. But I'm open to suggestions of other uses for a LN2/DICE CPU pot....and why I need to order such a thing from Poland........

cpu pot = flask for ln2, but it just happens to double as a cpu cooling device =o)
LN2 = to take care of skin blemishes, like warts, etc.

This is starting to move from the "flight of fancy" stage to the "am I really gonna do this stuff?" stage. Equipment seems to be falling in my lap all of a sudden......fate.

Obtained so far:
30L Dewar $160 USD (shipped)
UEI DT200 $55 USD (shipped)

Now for a pot....great guys here making and selling....
Does an all copper pot give any functional benefit vs copper base/alum tube?

i would go all copper because it will cool better if running quickly without any ln2.

I would assume there would be little (i.e. negligible) difference between a copper base and an all copper pot. Considering the tube doesn't really have that much to do with the heat transfer between the processor and pot. A copper tube might actually lose the LN2 faster ? I don't really know but since copper transfers better, wouldn't it transfer quicker to the air as well?
