Since i7's are supposedly difficult to boot at LN2 temps, I need to gather stuff for sacrificial practice.
I have my ASUS P5Q Pro and E8400 (C0). Also just picked up a cheap Cedar Mill (Celeron 347) on Ebay to cut my teeth with. Any suggestions for other cheap chips that like the cold? Or, something to fit 775 that bugs easily - but clocks well if you get it right? *I know I should DICE first and probably will, but I loathe acetone fumes. I'd lose all license to grip about my wife doing her nails in public areas of the house.*

I'd suggest the E5200s would be nice to overclock on some ice.

E5200, E2200, or CPUs like the E2180 if you can get a used one.

I got 2 chips that I bought specifically for this reason. And I never got around to Blasting them with cold due to having WAY too many CPU's to DICE.
The rest I sold already. But I have an E1500 and a celeron-l 450. PM if you are interested.

E5200. Although, I'd get something 65nm so you can pump lots of voltage through it, E6600 if you can.

Not really a good choice.... Mostly all E5200's have a low FSB wall. Putting them on DICE/LN2 would not fix this issue.
My choice would be for you to go the 65nm route Start off with E2xxx

Thanks for input.
I've started looking at my funds and thinking about the future big purchases planned (4890 Atomics, Classified, RAM...) and figure I'll stick with the 2 chips I already have for starters. I'll keep your chips in mind Pr1m3r if I burn out the E8400 and Celeron 347! Hmm...I haven't given thought to 45nm vs 65nm for pumping high volts. Looking at HWBot, it does look the 65's allow higher raw clocks. Think the same principle might apply to i7 architecture with current 45nm vs the upcoming 32nm?

If I'm gonna just use the P5q Pro I'll need to upgrade my RAM to take the Celeron where I hope to. That p5q board won't let you lower the RAM ratio and 1066 RAM won't cut it. .....but I don't want to invest too much in older technology.
