E8600 games - Overclock.net

Since I had the Commando prepped for some Celeron overclocking I thought I'd slap in the E8600.

I wanted to find out where the chip coldbugged because I wasn't quite happy with the 6 Ghz I got with the Tpower i45. I know my Commando can handle -188 C without coldbug.

Turns out the E8600 coldbugs at about -135, which is in line with the WR holding chip on hwbot. I think I was blaming the Tpower i45 for the chip's own coldbug...

PR1M3R and Adrienspawn will be happy to see that their old chip can do this:

That's at -129 C and 1.83 volts.

Later, after the kids are tucked in, I'll give it more volts and try to push the temps right up to the edge. I have a few more liters of LN2 left to try for max base clocks.

Then I'll refill the dewars on Thursday for some 2D benching, followed by some 4890, 4870X2, and GTX 295 3D benches with 3dm01 and 3dm03.

1.86 for voltage, that is purley suicidal even with extreme cooling like yourself, you should have made 7ghz easy with that voltage though

I see what you're saying, but keep in mind that the World Record E8600 overclock is less than 6.8 Ghz and he used 1.94v to get it.

k|ngp|n used 2.032v to get a "mere" 6.745 ghz.

Super high overclocks can't happen at safe voltages.

@grunion: pi runs absolutely coming if the LN2 lasts after max baseclock found.
