Just curious, would it not be better to have it bare copper as opposed to plated?
I would think for best heat transfer you would want the bare copper? Does the plating do anything more than make it look better?

nickelplating protect surface and you dont have any loss of performance
with it, is even better bcoz nickelplating make surfaces more flat
