Honestly patch, your threads are insane, I really enjoy them. I wish I could afford this stuff and do what you do..except i've never even had a job. Lol.

Thanks for the kind words, but I haven't had any good clocks or benches to report yet in this thread.
![]() I think this is the max on H2O. ![]() This chip is very encouraging so far. Prolly be another week or so before I can prep the Classy for going cold - and I want to wait for the patchpot anyway. I gotta work on ripping out flooring and starting on the cork planks in the dining room during my free time. Thanksgiving will be here soon and I'm starting to get sideways glances from the missus more often.....

Not a bad water clock at all! You better get that "Honey Do" list done..

Working hard at it......gotta love weekends.
![]() This would go a lot faster if I would just take the easy road. Previous owners had carpet in the dining room and kept doing the "linoleum on top of prior linoleum" thing in the kitchen. Nothing wrong with that, except that the subfloor is rotted underneath. I keep having to rip out more layers than I expected to. Tomorrow I have to replace some inner cabinet walls and cut down to the floor joists in a few areas. Sucks, but I just can't bring myself to install these beautiful cork planks on top of old water damage and mold. ![]()

Looks like work! I think I just went blind from seeing it...
...I hate scraping up glued linoleum, I'll be cranking along real good and hit a nail head, that sudden stop never fails to get a few choice words out of me..![]() Hey if you know you have rot it needs to come out, no need wasting your time and money just to have to re-do it again in a year or two. The work never bothers me as much as my Wife coming through, and in her mind at least, saying something encouraging like "See that didn't take long did it"...HaHa.. ![]() I'm waiting to see that "Patch Pot" in action, that's a real cool custom piece there...

Hopefully I can get the kitchen and dining room floors done this weekend so I can start overclocking again. *crosses fingers*
In the meantime, I got a Celeron 356 in the mail ($11 shipped ) and had an idea to run by you guys.CL3P20's toilet paper roll NB DICE pot got me to thinking....... What about greasing up around the CPU with dielectric and putting an open (both ends) tube over the CPU with a good grease seal? Instead of a LN2 pot, have a "LN2 tube" so that the liquid is in direct contact with the IHS. Potential problems: 1) Tricky to get the grease seal to stay fluid tight. Probably not feasible long term (hours). But I only want to try it for validations anyway. 2) Cold bug, cold bug, cold bug. Could only do it with Cedar Mills (or AMD chips.....). 3) Cold boot problems. How do you even start the rig when you're either without a heatsink at all or at -196? I think I could get it to work with careful initial titration, but maybe not. Just thinking out loud.....I might test the concept on my crappy Celly 347. If it works at all the next step might be to do a reverse lap job (increase surface area) on an IHS.

I wonder how the socket itself would hold up to that kind of cold? It may just crack that plastic socket out. Might work though... ...Use a old mobo and chip the first few times to see what it will do.Couldn't you just throw a handful of dry ice in it to boot into desktop with, then start using LN2? Or will the ice pop out or something when you add the cold juice? If it works out just use a file to cross hatch the top of your IHS, that will give you a lot more surface area easily. Hey its an interesting idea! And it would take out an extra layer of thermal resistance, plus you could get the LN2 down around the side of the IHS. DO IT! I want to watch this... ![]() Good Luck on the floors, I know you'll be glad to get those done!
