Turbo throttling aside, this board does have some very nice features for freezing. Like this: ![]() But it is kind of funny how they suggest something like watercooling if you're giving your CPU more than 1.7v. Or have I been too timid with voltages....

You mean I can give my i7 1.7V!? 5GHz, here I come!
lolz. I think I'll do my best to stay under 1.55V.

Well i would also be laughing my arse off if it said "if using more than 1.7v you should consider cooling the processor with ln2."

Bah!
This W3570 isn't worthy of these GPU's. Used up the rest of my LN2 with some testing today (out of LN2 right now and just typing on the rig to help warm it up -30....-29.....-28......).I can't get the stupid CPU to boot into windows at more than 4.75 ghz and can just barely pass CPU tests in 3D03 with a measly 4.5 ghz. ![]() Granted, I should be able to improve some with tweaks, but this chip is doing nothing near what I want for this set up......looks like it's gonna have to go on ebay to fund it's replacement. I wish I hadn't sold my i7 975. I didn't realize what a good chip it was. At least it could bench Vantage and 3Dmark06 at 5Ghz.

Heck, my 920 C0 crushes this Xeon. It hit 5.27ghz under LN2. But nothing is worth taking it out of my main rig and having to call microsoft again to activate Windows.....
And you pretty much need xtreme chips on the P6T7 since it doesn't do well with high baseclocks (even though you can up the PCIE frequency). That's what I get for wanting 4 PCIEx16 slots without getting another Bloodrage or Classy.

The new one isnt out yet though. The e760 would be fine for 4-way CF

If he still has the risers, yup.
But new tech is fun tech! Apparently, old tech is fun when you give it enough voltage to set it on fire!

Brief update.
I'm still hunting for a decent CPU and I'm working on 1 stick of RAM right now. I can't believe this W3570 is so bad. Does great up to 4 ghz with reasonable volts, but it's like pulling teeth to get it much higher even with extreme cooling. Finally coaxed a 3d03 run out of it tonight, but still only 4.64 ghz. And that only happened after I started to get the sneaky suspicion that this thing was crashing because of a coldbug..........at -55!! ![]() Out of concern that I'm wasting a lot of high end hardware on a board that turbo throttles, I responded to EVGA's email alert that the ClassyX4 is back in stock....... ![]()
