I'm getting tired of failing to get 8 Ghz on my celly, so it's time to get back into some i7 frozen goodness. Going Xeon style this time around.
I have everything I need except time to prep and bench, but you got to start somewhere. Pictures are worth a thousand words: ![]() I don't know if workstation boards inherently have better quality control, but I was quite impressed with the heatsink assembly. Everything that had a thermal pad was actually touching the thermal pad! It looks like the southbridge and NB weren't, but they made a distinct 100% depression on the pads - I think the white paste was some sort of adhesive TIM because it was a bear to get off. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More to come over the next week as the saga unfolds.

Also, just for clarification, would Harem, in this particular instance, mean 4?
Because that would be magical. Shamino, watch out!
