I was amazed that it works so flawlessly (using SoftTH). More pics will come tomorrow as I will have put on my Megahalem, and will post the build log as well.
So next time you see me, [OCN] Kiggold, in the OCN server, think of the triple monitors :D

Background -PLEASE READ

I am pleased to announce that our previous stats plugin was a huge success. We had around 1000 unique players on our server in the week that it was implemented. Due to this great reception, we (KarmaKiller and I) have gotten HLStatsX up and running. HLStatsX is much more full featured and has a great web interface. The server for the stats is hosted by KarmaKiller so be sure to thank him for his generosity. Also, and more importantly, jtriley (you'll see him on the server) did the setup of the server. He's pretty much amazing. So, let's get to the good stuff. :thumb:

Web Interface

To access your stats at any time, you can visit this web page:

OCN TF2 HLStatsX Page

There you can find a plethora of data that I won't even try to cover. Eventually we'll have geo-referencing so you can see where people are playing from. Once you've played on the server, you will show up there. Feel free to explore and see what there is to offer. Like I mentioned, more features will appear as the stats plugin gets more data.

In-Game Commands

To find the in-game commands, well, in-game, you can type 'help' in the chat box (y). This will bring up this page:

Commands

Some common commands are:

rank - your rank

next - next player in ranking above yourself

top20 - top 20 players

help - brings up aforementioned list of commands

NEW We now have the GeoIP up and running so you can see where you and others are playing from (you should know at least one of those already). It will also tag country flags to you as well. The server is not in NJ, it is in Chicago. That red pin is wrong. :p

The rankings from the last plugin have sadly not been transferred to this new system. Oh well. If you are really as good as you think you are, it shouldn't be a problem ;).

Enjoy!!:wheee:

Yay I made the team, Now what?:
You will be expected to show up to practices, PUG's, and scrims. We will make set practice days and time, you will all be notified accordingly.
Mics are required. You will not be starting unless you have a mic and OCN vent access. We will be using vent for everything from now on.

Tags:
If you are a member of the team you are expected to wear " OCn// " in front of your name. If you are not on the team we ask that you please not wear these tags, these are for members only.

Steam Group:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/OCN_Comp
All team members will be getting a invite to the group, if they aren't a member already. We will schedule practices via the group, set reminders, etc.

What! I'm not on the team!!
Sadly we cannot fit all the members that expressed interest in joining. This doesn't mean you'll never get to play with us as a team though. We've had several matches against EVGA's forum which are open to anyone in our community. And we also do play Highlander matches, which we will most likely open up a couple spots for the community to fill also.
Besides those, we also hold "PUG" games often. This is a great way to get experience and see first hand what the play style is like. If you'd like to join become a member of our "OCN PUG Group" on steam.
If you think you are just an outstanding player, and play one of the main classes used in scrims, then get a hold of me via PM or Steam and we may be able to discuss something.

We came to the decision of these members because they are;
A) Active within the OCN TF2 server
B) Have shown they have the time to make practices/PUG's/ Scrims
C) Have shown a baseline knowledge of how a scrim style match is played
D) Have shown they are a team player
E) Have shown they are polite and respectful of other team members
F) Have shown they are better then your average player :p

Now let's all get out there and show the world what OCN is about. :thumb:

We now have a rank plugin on the server. :wheee: What that means is that as you play, you will be ranked and gain points and such. There are some in-game commands (in the chat window) you can use to see the rankings:

"rank" to get your rank
"top10" to get the top 10
"players" to get a list of ingame players
"session" to get information about your session
"hidepoints" to hide the points you get
"unhidepoints" to show the points you get
Point values are listed here.

This particular plugin has a free web interface that if all goes well I'd like to get integrated into OCN so you can come here and see your stats. But for now, it will only be access when you are on the server. This is only on the 500 FPS server.

There have been some other changes to the server, pertinent server info can be seen, as usual, in the OCN Servers Thread (see Mods section under the [500 FPS] server).

Well I was really trying to avoid this. But after yesterdays fail practice, I think it's gonna be easier/best just to start over with the team. This will allow those who don't have time to play or have moved on just to walk away, no hard feelings. And others who have been begging for a spot on the team to try out.

So as of right now, we are starting over..

New Rules for anyone who wants to be on the team:

1. Vent is required. If you do not have a vent account setup with OCN, see here.

2. We will be having at least 2 practices per week. You must attend regularly to maintain your spot on the team. The first practice you miss without any prior notice to Lexicon (PRloaded) or myself will result in you getting bumped from your position on the team.

3. Active players are a MUST! The more active you are within the OCN servers, the better chance you have of making the team. We can always work/train/practice with active players. We unfortunately can't with people that are not playing.

Tryouts:
We will be holding tryouts this week in our PUG server. We are going to be doing this in groups, first come first serve. Then we will make the decision of who makes the team after everybody is finished trying out. I am not holding any spots for anyone that was formerly on our team, that would not be fair to the other members who have never tried out.

Try outs will start this weekend. What you need to post is:
Steam name
Your best class you play
Your favorite class to play
And how often you'll be able to make practice. (IE, I'm open 3 nights a week starting at xxxx)
I then will send you a PM with the practice time/day and password to the server.

We will be staffing teams for:
6 vs 6
8 vs 8
Highlander matches

We will be staffing 2 of every position. So for the 6 vs 6 team, we will have 4 soldiers, 4 scouts, 2 demo's, 2 medics. That way there will always be a backup just in case, and we will have a team to practice against.

I'm sorry if this upsets anyone, I just don't know how else to go about managing a team where 6 out of 16 members are active.

So again, if you want to tryout, DO NOT PM ME! Post in this thread.

TF2 Server Updates

The TF2 servers have seen some changes. First off, the faster 500 FPS server is having some sort of issue where it cannot change maps. When a map change begins, whether forced or time triggered, the server automatically shuts down (crashes) and reboots with the default map. This is being investigated and I hope to have it fixed soon. The 500 FPS server is doing wonderfully!

The old server is now a Pug server. For those who don't know, a PUG stands for pick up game. These are for 6v6, 7v7, and 9v9 games that are a little more organized than the regular public games you play. I have created an OCN TF2 Pug group on Steam for announcements about pugs and the server. I'd also recommend taking a look at this page for more info on competitive TF2 play. Other maps are hopefully to be added for practicing. Again, joining the PUG group will allow you to receive the announcements of server changes.

tl;dr version: Main server's down doing great, old server is now pug server.

See the TF2 guide in my sig for updated server info.

TF2 Team - Head-Captain Position Open

Now that school's started for me, I can barely keep up with updating the server, monitoring/moderating the server and my daily life. That being said, I will be relinquishing my title as OCN's TF2 Team's Head-Captain [not my position as a gameserver mod]. I'm looking for someone to replace me.

The position is open to anyone.

Things I'm looking for-

Experienced TF2 players, a person who has a definite understanding of the inter-workings of TF2 gameplay and match play

Someone who has an understanding of leagues, and their rules

Someone who is willing to commit time to the team

Someone who can enforce the rules of practices, to create a better team cohesion and a better team professional mentality.

Please, send in your resumes. A short one paragraph PM will do just fine, illustrating to me why you'd like my position, what you would do for the team, with the team.

What do I get from becoming team captain?
That's it. You will not get admin privileges on the server, but you will be in-charge of the team, it's practices, it's setting up of matches.

Thanks.
