Heres my idea, a tower. So far its an idea, i might do, might not. Not traditional ones like have lots of depth and height. But my tower will be very tall comparing to most cases, but will not have a lot of depth, length, or width. It's basically this but a tower. The shape of it is how the world trade centers looked like. A tall square.

Here are some pictures i did in google sketchup. The external will be a wooden color, probably something close to mahogany but lighter, maybe rosewood. The blue surfaces will be blue led fans. The rectangle with the red circles will be the power, reset, usb, esata switches. The gray surfaces on the side will be either plexi or acrylic. The whole case will be made out of wood. Now since I don't have a lot of depth. The hdds will be hanging vertically just below the top fan.

Heres what I want to ask you. Should windows be plexi or acrylic. How high do you think it should be with front 3 140 mm fans or 120, power switch, reset switch, space for lcd fan controller like this one, and 5 external 5.25 inch slots.

I will use parts from my rig if i build this. So matx mobo panel. Space for 5-6 hdd's hanging vertically from top, right below top fan. What do you think the length and width should be?

I think, the length and width should be 12 by 12 or 14 by 14. And a height of 4 feet should suffice.

Hi,
The Nichia company produces VERY low wavelength UV length. The common UV LED you'll find in modding stores is around 395-405nm if not worse. These have a lot of visible violet and you may not like the effect it produces.
Nichia produces 365-375nm UV LEDs...
Nichia imposes paperwork requirements on purchasers. Purchasers must sign paperwork agreeing to heed warnings about eye hazards of the UV, pass on warnings of the eye hazards of the UV, release Nichia from liability for UV eye hazards, and also to not reverse-engineer the UV LEDs, and not even do failure/defect analysis on bad UV LEDs without Nichia permission (I suspect Nichia fears that could yield reverse engineering data).

The common lamp type models are only sold by bags of 100 but if ya really want them maybe some group orders can be arranged on OCN ...

Over and out.

The 3 fans have 4 blue leds each

The WC tubing will be UV reactive blue

I'm gonna put in a bay reservoir which is also UV reactive blue with 2 blue leds

It's a mid tower case.

I definately want enough UV lights to get the most out of the tubing and reservoir but I don't think that's gonna be enough to light up the whole case so I want to put some blue ccfl's as shown in the diagram.

I don't want to overpower the case with a ton of lights though. It's kind of a trial and error thing to get it perfect but I'd like to hear what u guys think.

BTW - real pros draft in Paint

::edit:: is 4 12" ccfl overkill for a mid tower case?

Hey guys,

Here is my Antec 300. I have painted the interior black and cut some holes for cable management so far. I had to RMA my motherboard, supposed to be back on the 26th.

I'm thinking of cutting a side panel and was wondering if Home Depot carries everything I would need. I have a Dremel + a jig saw already.

The paint is definitely not the best, but the camera brings out the worst parts of it.

Pain looks horrible, but it really isn't bad at all in person.

Hard to see in the picture, but the drive bay covers are now just mesh. I want to stealth my drive. I will do that if I buy a fan controller which I plan on doing soon.

- Some decent mesh. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, but there's no way I'm paying so much for a sheet of that size.

-Momentary switches. Need ones similar to these, but preferably without being $20.

-Smoked acrylic. I've looked at a few sites, but I'm not really sure what's reliable and what isn't.

Suggestions?

Im having trouble with riveting my case. I just painted and now Im having trouble getting it back together. When I clamp down on the handles of the rivet gun to the point where it should be down. It shoots off out of the gun, and the nail part gets stuck in the gun itself, after making a popping sound.

Im wondering if I drill too much of the hole, and now I will have to get a bigger size rivet? I was using a1/8 size rivet, prob will have to drill at 3/16
and get 3/16 size rivets. Something isnt working right?

This has been in the works for a long, long, long time - some of you may remember I had a similar post a couple of months back. But I've been promised a Dremel for Christmas, I've got my sig rig to put in it, and an H-50 soon. I've got some questions at the end and am looking for any suggestions or opinions at all. I'll consider everything you say because I want this case to be perfect. Now here's the good bit.

Total Dimensions (Excluding feet): 354mm(h) x 422mm(d) x 346mm(w).

Overall View
Front View - Stealthed DVD-rom Drive, 4x 120mm fans
Side View - Funny Shaped Window

Top View - 25mm Fan, 2 Fan Speed Controllers, Power Button

Internal View - (Colour changed for visibility, it's impossible to see detail when it's black.)

Components View

Alternate Colours -

Just a few questions:

Zalman Fan Mate 2 - I'm hoping to use a modded version of these for my fan controller. It's rated at <6 Watts, the fans I'm going to use are 4x Xilence Red Wing 120mm, rated at 1.2W, is there any reason why I cant link 4 fans through one controller?

In terms of chosing a Dremel, I seem to only need 2 guides - Rotary and Edge. Some hole-saw pieces for small holes, but what sort of cutting bits do I need? I'm pretty clueless here  (Also how would I go about cutting the DVD-rom drive slot on the front of the cover, it's the only thing I cant work out at the moment!).

Does anyone know a good place to buy acrylic and glue in the UK?

My side panels will be removable through means of 4 thumbscrews:

But how can I tap those screws into the acrylic block behind? Perhaps drill a hole through it and glue a nut into the block?

I don't like the way I've got my power button and fan control knobs. They just dont seem to fit. Anyone have any ideas, I just want to make them as stealthed and inobtrusive as possible really.

What colour? My original intention is 90%opaque-black/transparent windows, with blue lighting, though the white/bright-blue looks kinda funky but a bit Mac-y

Ok, that's all my questions for now. I'm sitting here trigger-happy on my rep button ;) Absolutely any opinions are welcome!

I can post more pics of different parts/colours on request.

Weird request but I'm looking for a really large toaster oven that could hold computer parts to bake and cure for the powder coating I will be doing.

My garage doesn't have a 220 volt circuit so I can't use the oven I have laying around :( sad times.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is what I have so far, but I will hopefully finish it tomm night with my dremel.

I plan to cut a square hole in it for my radiator also.

I will have the side completely sealed, other than the hole for where the radiator is mounted currently (the last picture).

See the cracks? This sucks to work with.

Hey guys im just getting started on my haf 932 paint/mod job i just painted the mesh grills on the front white. you can see my progress here (http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-work-logs/609367-haf932-beetlejuicer-mod.html#post7656148)

Hey guys im just getting started on my haf 932 paint/mod job i just painted the mesh grills on the front white. you can see my progress here

Anyways i dont really like how you cant see that much of the white through the main center grill on the bottom. It seems like the black pieces of plastic going across are too close together. So i had an idea, but im not sure of how to implement it and have it look ok in the end.

I want to cut some of the center area of the black pieces of plastic going across and sharpen the ends to points. The visual effect im wanting is that of spiked teeth. This would let more white show through and give a great looking effect.

Any help on how i should do this?
I was thinking dremmel..but then how could i finish is so it doesn't look cut and sloppy?
Sand paper, and then paint?
Here is a picture so you know what im talking about.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Only made rough templates out of cardboard today but I'll refine these ideas over the week and maybe even get started on building the doors by the weekend. They are being made out of an old case I have lying around.

Heres a pic of what the template looks like :
