Antec or CM or something else? Help me choose.

As of now my computer is case-less and sitting on top of my mobo box for year now.

I decided to finally get a case, but my research has gone in circles.

I am willing to spend up to $150 but at the same time if a $80 case would work for me then even better.

I want it to be future proof should I ever want to crossfire or upgrade to a highend card that is longer then my current card.

Full size cases are great but would it really require me to have 6-8 fan cases just to get the air flow going? I dont need a silent case, but I dont want 6 case fans to be waking up my wife.

Steel cases and rust

Guys, I just caught myself thinking about rust problems with modern steel cases. Is it still a issue with this kind of cases? I had a steel (crapy) case several years ago and it got rusted to the bone! I live in a coastal (so it's pretty humid), tropical weather (so it's damn hot :)) city.

Right now I have a Cooler Master Mystique, which is a mid-tower pretty much all aluminum case. The thing is: while the aluminum structure remains perfectly intact, a few metal parts, such as screws or the pci slots plates, are fairly rusty.

So, as I'm planning to buy a new case soon, should I be concernd about it getting rusty? Or should I stick with trusted aluminum (bare in mind that this option is way more expensive :rolleyes:?

Btw, when I mean "modern steel cases" I'm thinking about things like a HAF case, for example.

CCFL Placement in Antec 300 & 902

Hi guys,

I'm planning to decorate both of my Antec cases with some blue CCFLs. However, I'm not sure where to put them since the measurement is always a bit short. If anyone has them in some great spots please share them as I would love to have some cathode for the look. On the other hand, other suggestions on how to light up the situation would be appreciated.

P.S: I'm planning to do a window mod on the Antec 300.

My Cosmos 1000 mods

Just wanted to share a couple of modifcations i did to my Cosmos.

My board is an EE ATX (its big). When i set the board in the tray only 5/10 holes lined with up the board. I had to drill 3 holes in the tray for the standoffs so that it would line up with the board. Secured the standoffs with nuts. So at least now its secured with 8/10 screws and standoffs. The first photo shows one of the two holes that miss.

Also put a fan in behind the hard drive cage. A question about my fan position - in this orientation it should pull hot air off the drives right?

Need suggestions on 80mm fan

The back of my case won't fit a 120mm, and I believe only an 80mm. I'm not quite up for using a dremel for much custom work right now, so I was just looking for some opinions on an 80mm fan.

I only have 1 rear exhaust fan, so I'd like something powerful, and my front intake pushes around 75 CFM, becaust it's an S-FLEX. Any suggestions?

Hey guys i just finished ordering new goodies for my next build and Just got myself a Swiftech H20-220 but with the Apogee waterblock. But im wondering to keep the system contained in the case, whats the best option to place the rad without case mod. If its not doable ill throw it on the back.

I had a corsair self contained watercool kit b4 but it wouldent mount on the inside of the case at all. was about 3mm too long.

I need some suggestions for a case. It needs to be not flashy like a gaming rig. More sleek and professional looking. It's going to be for a new security system DVR system I am building. Needs to have a lot of space on the inside since I will be using a TRUE to cool the CPU, as well as having a 3-4 HDD's in there.

I just received my case from newegg a couple of days ago and I have a few things to say about it. First of all, this case is better than the antec 902 that I owned in everything except the lack of fna filters.

The case is bigger
Has more fans and every fan is larger and quieter than the antec 902
The case looks better (the 902 does look very good how ever)
Its completely tool-less like the Antec
It has excellent build quality, cable management and a black interior to boot
Most importantly it costs less half the price

I have no complaints so far except for the fan filters (I'm going to make some) but the HAF doesn't come with them either. I understand cases like the HAF are now to be excellent cases but that does not justify the price compared to the Azza.

so i bought a cm 690 this past march for $80 and ended up not liking it :(. of coarse i started modding it right away so i couldnt return it. i then decided to paint the case, so i took it apart 3 weeks ago and havent done anything since.

so now my question is, should i paint the case(hoping i dont butcher it as im horrible with painting). or buy the antec 902 from newegg for $85 after MIR with the EMCMMMP42 promo code.

my friend bought a 902 about a month ago and i like it(style wise) alot more then the cm690. temp wise i get 36c on idle and no more then 48 on load. would i get better or worse temps in the 902 if i decide to switch. thanks in advanced:)

I have searched all around and have found reviews of a ton of cases. I want to find out the best <$150 case for gaming. I want to make sure that there is plenty of airflow so my CPU and my 2 video cards will not overheat. I am having an overheating issue now but my case is an OEM HP case so it is no where near an aftermarket case.

Hello. I'm still looking for a good aluminum case that'll fit an EATX board for my build. I would say that a Rocketfish would be an option, but I can't find any being sold (unmodded). I'm trying to keep it at a $200 budget, but paying less would definitely help pay for other components. The Lian Li PC-A70F/A71F/B71 are all interesting, but probably over my budget. I know there's the Antec 1200, HAF 932, Cosmos S, ATCS 840, etc., but I'm looking for something that's a bit more unique than those. I will be on air cooling. Thanks.

Well it seems that with my current budget, I might be able to buy a new case for my upcoming build but I might have to sell the spare Apevia X-Navigator I have which I absolutely don't mind doing because I already have another :D

So the question I have for you guys is do you have any experiences with the following cases and which one would you get out of them all. I would like to go with other choices but either people want to try and rape you prices or it's far away to drive and the shipping just kills it.

Riveting

Hi All,

Im having trouble with riveting my case. I just painted and now Im having trouble getting it back together. When I clamp down on the handles of the rivet gun to the point where it should be down. It shoots off out of the gun, and the nail part gets stuck in the gun itself, after making a popping sound.

Im wondering if I drill too much of the hole, and now I will have to get a bigger size rivet? I was using a1/8 size rivet, prob will have to drill at 3/16
and get 3/16 size rivets. Something isnt working right?
