I've been toying around with the thought of adding my old 8500GT back into my system, but I have no x16 slots to put it in. Now, I've been batting back and forth on whether or not to cut the back off of one of my x1 slots as to fit my 8500GT in there. I won't be doing any gaming on it, just Physx and Folding, so the extra bandwidth will not be needed. So, I will let you decide OCN: To cut or not to cut, that is the question.

im going to use this for my base platform. im not even sure about the exact details but heres my plan:

A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

basically the bolts will NOT HAVE FLETCHINGS (the feathers). it is viable imo to have the barrel. the bolts will go through a barrel positioned perfectly at the end of the crossbow that has rifling on it that will SPIN the bolt. this will greatly improve flight stability and make the arrow much more acurate due to barrel length and the spinning nature of the bolt. the bolt flight drop range should improve drastically as well as the power at that range.

the bow will be powered by a cordless drill battery to make it simple to replace/ charge the battery which is somewhat high powered.

i will do my best to keep the bow as silent as possible.

it will be semi automatic and have magazines to make it very easy to load

im not sure if a cordless drill will have enough force to pull back the bow string.

LOADING:

im going to make a cordless drill pull the drawstring back with a small metal plate attatched to a rod that has a gear which will be in contact with a rod with spirals to make it move powered by the cordless drill motor. the metal plate will have an elastic like bungie cord thing to pull it back after it has loaded the gun.

not sure on how the bolts will be loaded either but i have a couple ideas.

idea 1:

the magazine is on top of the bow and the metal plate that goes back will have a metal piece sticking out on the top to release an arrow into the notch after the draw string is loaded when the metal plate is on its way back, then it will release a bolt into the notch being ready for fire.

idea 2:

there will be a magazine on the side with a metal plate that has springs on it to keep sidewards pressure on the bolts and the metal palte will touch osmething else conductive on its way back that will trigger a metal piece in the magazine to rotate, letting a bolt go into the loading notch of the crossbow, being ready to fire.

SHOOTING:

the bow will shoot pretty much like a normal bow besides the fact that the bolt wont have fletchings and it will go through a barrel (i dont think this has ever been done quite like i plan). the bolt should go through a barrel with the exact inner diameter to componsate a good standard bolt i can find's diameter for a cheap means of ammunition.

the ammo will have replaceable arrow tips hopefully.

im hoping that the power of this 180 pound crossbow can be nearly as powerfull that some rifles but i dont want to get my hopes up.

ill add some schematics soon and i will be applying this for a patent soon if i can (the date now is november 20th but i have no idea how to proove this idea on this date so pls help me with that.

This is my first 'creation', so go easy on me :)
First, the materials you'll need are:
1) sturdy cardboard box
2) speaker
3) penknife
4) screws and nuts
5) screwdriver
6) a source as well as amplifier to power the speaker
7) mathematical compass w/ pencil

I won't explain much, just let the pictures do the talking ;)

Materials:

Measure the diameter of the speaker cone. In this case, it's 4 inches.
Get a ruler, and spread the legs of the compass so that the distance between the pencil and pin is 2 inches. Then you'll want to draw a circle on the cardboard cover.

Once you get the circle outlined, use a penknife to cut the circle out.
At the same time, you may want to place the speaker on it to mark out screw hole positions.

Install the speaker with screws and nuts!

On the bottom section of the box, jab a hole for audio cables to enter and reach the speaker terminals.

Stand back and admire your work so far! :D

Push the wires into the box through the hole, and connect to the speakers.
Turn on your amp and listen!

NOTE: I know, I know, there are air leaks, rattling from the screws and nuts etc. But this is made of junk, and costs nearly nothing to make! :P For some casual listening, this will suffice :D

In any case, I recorded a video of a random song on radio playing through the speaker. That distortion in the video isn't distortion on the speaker or amp, neither is it bottoming out. The distortion is caused by air leaks causing the cardboard edges to flap against the speaker structure.

Rep if you like this! Also, do tell me how I can improve next time :)

Here's the video:

Is there a generic Keyboard driver? Is there a way to create a Driver to work with this keyboard, its not the regular format, ASCII is the regular, I think this is ANSII. I Could be wrong about that. (I probably am)

Hi,
I NEED to mod the intellimouse 3.0 because of this problem:
I play CS1.6 and have jump bound to mouse wheel down. Since the intellimouse 3.0 has a loose mousewheel, I jump randomly which is bad. By loose I mean it doesn't sit in correctly and then later slips back in causing the jump.

I already know how to open the mouse and have done so. But i need advice on how to fix the problem.

I have already tried to fix it by:
Replacing the mouse wheel with the intellimouse 1.1 wheel. NO WORKED
Grinded the opening of the mouse wheel socket because I though the socket was too small for the mouse wheel and it was getting stuck on the sides. NW

IDK wat to try next. BTW this problem is with all intellimouse 3.0 so don't tell me to buy a new one. The one i have is brand new from frys.

I need some help. Making a water chiller out of a window air conditioning unit. I have pretty much completed the unit, except now I am ready to mod the thermostat. The existing thermostat only goes down to 64F. I need one that will go to -30C, preferably -40C to give me a little headroom.

I need one that will go to -30C, preferably -40C to give me a little headroom.

Here's the problem. I have no experience with this whatsoever. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what to do? Where can I buy a digital thermostat that will reach these temperatures? (preferably as cheap as possible) How do I wire it in to the existing control panel of the A/C unit?

Edit: Explain it to me like I'm stupid. Because when it comes to wiring, I ride the short bus.

Keep in mind I didn't have time to weld the acrylic so I had to use metal brackets.

It's almost complete for today, only thing I have left to do is paint pretty pictures on the top and sides. I should be able to do that Saturday or something soon like that.
