So I think that it must be my codecs, hence the Klite codec install I hope that this will fix my issues.

Could any one give me an idea of what settings to use? There are 8 profiles and numerous options on the page after that. I want to get rid of these dots any help is greatly appreciated and will be rewarded accordingly.

I ask because my mouse won't function properly in the VPC, but it's fine in the host machine... i dont know if thats a guest machine driver issue, or if VPC just dumbs the mouse down when it's running the machine.

Chrome vs. Firefox: OCN comparison

I use Chrome on my laptop and Firefox on my sig rig, so I've come to notice a few differences related to OCN, so I though I might as well share them.

Both browsers have their advantages, and in the end it really comes down to user preference.

Firefox:

Advantage 1:

Firefox of course has plugins, most noticeably ad block plus. Now, no self respecting OCNer would ever have it enabled on overclock.net. Right?

Well... there is one big advantage to using it, and you only need to have it on for the home page:

As you can see, without the ad there you can see the full title for practically all of the threads!

Advantage 2: WYSIWYG

I don't know if it is just me, but I was never able to get the WYSIWYG editor to work in Chrome, so this is another key advantage for Firefox.

Advantage 3: Hotkey support in the editor.

I'm not sure how many people even know about this, but the forum editor supports hotkeys! Most notably, ctrl-b is bold, ctrl-i is italic, and ctrl-u is underline. In Chrome when you press ctrl-b in the editor it just shows/hides your bookmarks.

Chrome:

Advantage 1: Resizable text area in editor

This is Chrome's biggest advantage. The default OCN editor is cramped. You can't even fit an entire line in the box. Chrome lets you resize the text area:

Advantage 2: Speed

This is OCN, so most of us have fast processors and lots of memory, and probably wouldn't notice this, but there is a noticeable difference on my Lenovo T400 with it's 2.4GHz C2D.

Advantage 3: Screen real estate.

Again, this might not matter to those of us with large screens, but on smaller screens, every pixel counts. Even with addons and themes Firefox can't match the screen space you get with Chrome. I use Chrome on my laptop because I need to make the best use of my 900 pixel screen height.

Disadvantage: WebKit

This is the dark side to the speed advantage, and a personal beef I have with Chrome, so excuse me if I start ranting.

Both Google and WebKit are lax in following web standards, and as a result Chrome doesn't render OCN correctly. The differences for the most part are minor, but they are still there, and if you know they are there they will start to get on your nerves (sorry):

Notice how Chrome mishandles the border width for the subforums.

Another discrepancy is the way Chrome handles animated GIFs. If a GIF has a framerate that is over a certain speed,(or unrestricted, I'm not sure which) Chrome will clamp it down to an unreasonable level, somewhere under 10 fps.

The result is that while smilies like :gunner: work as intended, while :wheee:does not. Given the cult following of :wheee: this can be a real deal breaker.

Oh and the reason they give for the clamp? Internet Explorer does it that way. To me this is an ethical issue, as IE has never followed web standards, while Google is all about them. Thats all I'm going to say about the matter, since my last thread on the subject was deleted by an over-zealous mod.

And there you have it. I may have missed some things, but this is where it stands for me.

Hi guys,

What I'm basically trying to do is install a windows theme for my computer. I run XP Pro x64 and everything's up to date, but this theme comes with its own setup file in the form of a .msi. I can't install normally as the set-up will only work for 32 bit versions of windows (The developers said this, but could anyone offer an explanation as to how/why this is done?) so I tried running it in compatibility mode. That didn't work, so I extracted the contents of the .msi and copied them to their corresponding locations. The icons and the main executable work, but the task bar doesn't. When I try to modify the task bar through that executable, it gives me an "unknown error." I haven't made any entries in the registry, and I'm sure that some need to be made. The extractor I used on the .msi lets me know where these entries need to be made, but I don't know what values to put in. Here's an example from the log the extractor generated:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Sid eBySide\Installations\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_x-ww_0de06acd\downlevel_payload• • •SZ

What's with the dots/bullet points?

The main executable also doesn't show up in windows' list of programs, so I'm pretty sure fixing the registry should fix my problem. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I should attack this registry problem?

Right now, I am doing it by hand to do the calculations like this:
A / B / C / D
1 | amount $ / 30% / 20% / 50%
2 | $50 / A2*.3 / A2*.2 / A2*.5

Instead of saying A2, A3, A4, and so on for each of the ROWs, is there a way I can just use a variable to represent each row and do the calculation on each column automatically?

So I have spent the better part of two months with trial versions and freeware trying to figure out what program will give me the best picture(ie up to Bluray quality) and best speed(about 1GB/hr or less would be great) for converting into and out of any/most of these file types ON MY SIG RIG- AVI,WMV,MPG-2,MPG,M4V,VOB.
I've ruled out Badaboom for its poor quality(though the speed was nice).
Trying Mediashow Espresso but for some reason it doesn't take AVI. Also, When using MPG2 output(CPU only encoding which is fast) of 25Mbs at 1920x1080 I get frame rates that only run right when there is audio(ie. someone speaks and the frame rate goes to the normal 29-30FPS but if no one makes a sound the frame rate goes all over). When using the MP4AVC profile(1920x1080) with or without Hardware Encoding enabled it claims the render time will be over 5hrs(this happened after a recent driver update, before it wasn't so long but did cause full load and 72C temp for my GPU)!
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'm looking for a piece of software that will go through an entire directory of a website and save all the sub pages in it to disk for viewing offline later. I can't save each page to disk 1 by 1 because there are too many pages on the website I want to save, so a program that saves all the pages automatically would be very useful.
Anyone know of any program that will do this for me? Tried Google, but not much luck. All the programs do something different from what I want it to do, or are so old that they crash when loaded.
