The bad thing is that it has a 14ms response time. I was told that this dell monitor was a good medium for photo and gaming, but its not 1080p, which is a huge drawback:

UltraSharp 2209WA 22-inch c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=2209WA3

In the end, I really REALLY want the NEC, but I dont know how bad a 14ms response time will be.

Thanks for the help!

I have a question about response times, input lag, and output cables for Xbox 360. A lot of people have been saying that Component cannot support 1080p, HDMI supports full 1080p but has some input lag, and VGA cables support full 1080p and has little to no lag.

I want to know is, what is the best way to get the least amount of lag from my xbox 360? I want to minimize picture lag in every way possible.

Thanks :)

I am ordering a new setup today though, with a 5770, so I will have much better performance from my comp. I am trying to figure what setup will give me the best performance. Should I keep things the same (free option since I already have all the necessary cables), or switch the Xbox to the VGA by buying an adapter, and plugging my comp into the DVI? I just want to get the best picture possible on both. I wish this thing had more inputs and HDMI, but I got it cheap, so oh well. Thanks for any help.

So my old 32" 720p LCD sure as heck ain't going to cut it in the new house. The family room is 16' wide.

Anyone have first-hand recommendations for a 50-54" 1080p Plasma? Been looking on amazon and I think, so far based on reviews and price, Panasonic Viera G10 or S1 looks like a good choice. But I don't know.

So some more digging and browsing through avsforum, I'm leaning towards the 54" S1. (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIER...8383779&sr=1-1)

Maybe using that as a starting point might help.

Hi, I am on the verge of buying a Samsung SM2443BW online.

However, I can't fully decide where to buy it from due to worries of possible dead pixels and issues getting problems resolved.

Firstly, I am in the UK. So that instantly means I will probably get shafted over dead pixels.

I have done a lot of research and browsing and it is safe to say there is not near enough info on the specifics of this. I read somewhere that, at some point in time, Samsung would replace the monitor if it had even the slightest issue, but the person posting this (wherever I read it a few days ago) also stated that they were only sure that was the case in Australia (maby not anymore?).

Now, I highly doubt such a gesture would occur in Europe. I have a few options of where to buy it now: microdirect.co.uk seem OK, but they offer no screen checking service and I hear their customer services are rubbish; so my solution under the circumstances of buying from them and getting dead pixels would be to return it under the distance selling act, and fork out for shipping plus wait longer to actually have a good monitor. OCUK recently sold out, since I got the funds to purchase the monitor, and they were my primary choice because it seems that monitors from them are just about never defective in even the slightest way (I have known of about 12 monitors bought from them by people I know that all were fine, dispite microdirect stating that dead pixels are quite common). I could buy from amazon, for the same price as microdirect. Or, I could buy from cconline.com and pay £20 more to have the monitor checked first.

Would you opt for the monitor checking option? Otherwise I may opt for amazon because microdirect allow something stupid like 17 dead pixels.

Also, I couldn't find any info on Samsung's dead pixel policy newer than 2004 (and apparently that only applied in certain territories). If said dead/stuck pixels occur more noticable can I argue the screen would need replacing? And how would I be sure they would agree.

I really don't want any white/dead/stuck pixels, I have been up all night browsing and fretting over this (sorry for the fail typing and ranting). What are your opinions?

edit:
found this, promising? Go for the cheapest site?
edit:
that page is from 2006, but it is still live on their site

Hello!

As in the title, my T240hd monitor repeatedly turns itself on and off. It was working fine with my current PC setup and Xbox360 last night. On turning the monitor on this morning, it repeatedly turned itself off and on in a consistent cycle. It will be on for approximately 12 seconds, then turn off for approximately 7 seconds, then turn itself back on and repeats. This occurs on all of the input sources.

I have tried my computer with a different monitor, which works without problem.

I have tried my T240hd with my xbox360, and it completes the same cycle, so I'm sure it's something to do with the monitor.

I have tried unplugging all the cables and plugging them back in, it didn't make any difference.

I only bought it a month ago so it is well within warranty. I'm just hoping there's a way to fix it other than sending it to Samsung and being without it for a couple of weeks.

I have emailed Samsung with the problem. But I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get a reply until the middle of next week.

Anyone seen or heard of this problem before? Or do you have any suggestions of anything I can do/check?

Regards,
