I found a great deal on Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.296921). I was planning on getting the mobo anyway but I'm not sure if that RAM is any good, can't seem to find reviews of it anywhere. Also, is it even compatible with that board? I would think so if they have them comboed together but the board doesn't state that it can run DDR3 2133.

Thanks,

Hey.

I done some fiddling in the BIOS and couldn't figure out how. That was a week ago. Today I was suffering from BSOD and realized i changed something in the BIOS. FSB:RAM had gone from 1:1 to 5:6 causing my RAM to be overclocked..

I don't even know what I changed to do that but I want the opposite. I want to Make my FSB larger and keep my RAM running at 800MHZ.

Help. All Gigabyte have at least similar BIOS so if you are experienced with them that is good. :)

Edit: My tweaking thing in my BIOS is called MB intelligent tweaker

What could be going on? I have tried restarting. The computer is unusable. It took me forever to try and pull up the task manager but I waited for it and it never came up.

So I want to know, if I get the 2000Mhz can I run it at a lower frequency and tighten up the timings like its slower brethren? Or will it's potential tightest timings always be looser than the 1600's tightest timings? (this is assuming a theoretical perfect overclock where everything works together perfect  )

I am going i7 920 D0 / Bloodrage...
I want the best air/water overclocking potential as possible... Initially I will be on air via my current TRUE (buying new i7 brackets to make this one work), when finances allow me, I will be doing a full watercooling system, so I need ram that will work with the Bloodrage and True until I go water. I heard that TRUE and a ultra kaze will cover up the first ram slot making it so I won't be able to use tall ram like dominators or ripjaws etc, but I initially only play to get a 2x2gb kit anyways, so if it will work, i will only be using 2 slots and maybe it won't matter if my first one is covered up and i can get the taller ram. what would you guys reccommend?

Keep note that the I am only needing 2 dimm's, and the heatsink will be taking up the first slot of ram, if it be ok to use them in the last 2 slots then I could go ahead and get the taller ram.

Thanks and +rep for helpful posts.

(EDIT) Bumped the RAM up to the factory requested settings, for some reason, it booted as 7-7-7-18@1066 instead of 9-9-9-24@1600...so now its at the correct timing/speed and running in dual channel, but, the 4.00GB (1.99usable) thing is still there.

I've already toggled memory remapping, it shows this way enabled or not as well. Any thoughts, suggestions, help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Running them in 1-2 or 3-4 results in no post. Running them in 2, or 4, separately also same results. I have not tested both sticks together in 2-4.

My question, what happens when you take DDR2 and run them in slots 1&3? Is it bad for the memory? Will this last me until I can save for a new setup?

I will not be overclocking the CPU or memory during this time period.

so i want 4.5ghz (50%), thats my goal. Im at 4.5Ghz now, but my ram will not POST my Pc @1600, only at 1200.

Im pretty sure this is what i set volts to to get here now:

Vcore: 1.36
Term: 1.48
PLL: 1.68
GMCH Strap: 333Mhz
RAM Divider: 2.33 (want it at 3.2 for 1600MHZ)
GHMCH Core: 1.4
ICH: 1.68
DRAM V: 1.68

(I think there all the important ones....But i didn't sleep last night....)

So is there something im missing for running ram with High FSB???
Or, did changing the GMCH Strap do something?
Any help gets Much rep and love.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
(UNRELATED....I was thinking, We got all these official clubs, is there a FSB Club yet? we all come in post our highest Stable (And non stable?) FSBs?)

Anyone have one of these? Asus P7P55D, not Pro, EVO, or whatever. http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...RFZ&templete=2

If so I ask this - What memory are you running, and is it stable?

At first I tried Corsair 8GB worth of CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 , no go as the board would see only half the memory. Next I went to OCZ, specifically OCZ3X16004GK - two kits. One kit ended up with a bad module and was replaced with another OCZ3X16004GK kit, but this new pair runs only at 533MHz. It reports as PC3-8500 and runs exactly as one - slow, and this is at the 1.9 - 2.0v that OCZ support says to run it. Forget about overclocking as this pair will not run higher than 600MHz without crashing.. A far cry from the other pair that is quite happy at 889MHz.

Anyway I am at the end of my rope on this. All I want is memory that will work on this board, that all memory will be seen, and that it will run stable at least at it's rated PC3-12800 (800MHz) at a minimum.

So if you have an Asus P7P55D, tell me the memory you have and at what speeds it is running stable. I would appreciate this.

TIA

I've been tweaking my RAM and have one question. In my case, would I benefit more from having a high clock speed and high timings, or from having a low clock speed and low timings?

I have a 2x2GB kit of OCZ Platinum DDR2 1066 5-5-5-18 2.2V. My system bus is 350MHz. Now, for a while I've been running the memory at 1050MHz 5-5-5-18, that being the closest I can get to the rated values. However that is a 2:3 ratio, and I know that RAM is supposed to perform best when at a 1:1 ratio to the bus. So I recently went to the other extreme and am running at 700MHz 3-4-3-7. Both settings are memtest86+ stable.

I know that RAM speed and timings don't have a huge impact on performance (when I tested at 700MHz 5-5-5-18 boot only took about two or three seconds longer than at 1050MHz, and with the lower timings it's the same), but I'm the type who likes to get the most theoretical performance as possible while still playing it safe.

So which would likely give better performance?
2:3 1050MHz 5-5-5-18
1:1 700MHz 3-4-3-7
