When booting, I get the following error (just the bright white text, everything else is normal)

The computer will continue to boot, except any drives connected to the JMicron ports won't work.

What I've narrowed down so far:

- It happens when the ICH10R is configured to RAID or AHCI, but not when set to IDE.
- If the two JMicron controllers are disabled, the message doesn't pop up.
- If the first JMicron controller is set to ACHI+IDE or RAID+IDE (referring to the SATA and PATA ports, respectively), it will pop up twice for that controller.
- It's not a conflict with any add-on cards, as I've tried removing them completely and resetting CMOS and that didn't help.

Anyone know how to fix it?

Well we all know what holiday is right around the corner.. Christmas!

I'll have about 350$(425$ absolute max, target price is 350 though!) to shell out, and I would like to upgrade my computer since it feels like its lacking quite a bit at the moment. I am [i]thinking[i] of selling both my monitors and buying a bigger monitor (24" maybe this more specifically: link.) I'm not sure if it would be worth the upgrade though, is 2 and a half inches going to make a difference from my 22"? 1080p would be nice.

As for my 350$ I want to get the best performance I can for the buck, I don't really want to go with a ATi card but I maybe would, I can SLi if it fits in the budget.

Thanks for any suggestions guys, its appreciated!

**I hope this is a acceptable forum to post this in, not sure where else to put it.

The system that is being upgraded is of course the one blow in my sig

I'm aiming for 4Ghz with as little Vcore as possible and I've been trying my hardest but I can't seem to get my E6300 5 runs Linx stable below 1.575Vcore :(

At 1.575Vcore my system passes 5 Linx runs with no problems at all :)

However it runs faster with 1.6Vcore

For example :

As you can see it takes roughly 4 and a half minutes to complete a single pass with 20 Gflops of compute power

Now at 1.6Vcore :

Now it takes 3 and half minutes per pass at 25 Gflops!!

Why does it run faster with 1.6Vcore? Surely it should be the same as it's passing Linx at 1.575v

The settings shown in ET6 are what is set in BIOS, they are largely set to 'AUTO' except for Vcore, VTT, PLL and MB voltage.

I'm running Beta BIOS F9d and my chip has a VID of 1.275.

Both CPU and North bridge are water cooled and I use OCZ 1066Mhz Blade RAM ( Not the low voltage kit )

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Hi guys,

In the next week I will be laying my hands on an i7 950 D0 and 6GB of 2000Mhz HyperX.

Therefore I need a motherboard for the new chip.

It needs to support SLI and Crossfire whilst having a free PCI-E slot for my Xonar STX.

More importantly, it will need to be able to run the i7 at over 4Ghz with ease. Cooling for now is as seen in my sig rig. (Lapped TRUE with Push/Pull). I will eventually be going water on CPU @ NB.

I would like to try and keep the cost under £250.

Currently, I have my sights set on the ASUS Rampage II Extreme. Is there better for the money?

Cheers

Well, today all of my parts for this wonderful build showed up on my doorstep (except Motherboard and GPU) so I have a couple things together this far. I plan to keep updates here on the build as well as future OC achievements and otherwise. The build is outlines in my signature so I don't need to retype all that. Without further wait, I give you the first pics of my i7 gaming rig.
Snagged a AC7Pro too (loved these coolers for a long time now) for it. I'm using my current case, ram, video card, etc with it.

With the BE 5000+ (which sounds cooler than it really is) Core 0 was giving me errors no matter what even at stock now (though not as bad) and I've had no real success OCing it or the other one I had that I blew up trying to OC. (They were like $55 a pop at the time, meh) kind of killed my OCing mood and I've been inactive in that area for about two years now.

But now that I'm back in friendlier waters I hope to hit 500FSB again, this time with a 10.5 Multi (note:muahaha I know I'm dreaming) :devil-smi
This is the most excited I've been since I went AMD (don't tell the AMD fans)

Relatively new to overclocking

Hey guys, this is my first post and it's nice to be here :P.

I say "Relatively" because I tried it before when I was 12 and realised I needed a bigger heatsink in order to manage with the cooling... I bought a Zalman Fata1ity FS-C77 and then I tried booting the PC after fitting it and nothing... (I had shorted out the processor by putting on too much thermal grease :P)

That aside, my problem is that I want to overclock but for some reason I keep getting different errors when I try.

1. It reaches the Windows logo and freezes.
2. It gets past the logo but then loads a blue screen with a "IRQL EQUAL OR LESS THAN VALUE" or something like that...
3. It freezes at the POST screen.

I saw in another guide that 1.25 volts and 400fsb is a good setting for E8200. I set it to 1.15 volts and 360fsb but then I got the freeze at POST error. (To fix this I had to keep restarting until it gave me the opportunity to reset the overclock).

I'm running a budget system, which is why I'm looking to overclock :). I've got it at a mere 340 fsb at the moment (2.721 Ghz :P)

Also if anyone has had this motherboard could you maybe answer why is it that when I transferred it to a new case (my Ammo 533) the sound stopped working? It will not pick up any sound devices other than digital - which I have disabled for now. (Basically I plug in the mic and headphones and it does not find them :()

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Hi guys! Just joined this forum (officially) though I've visited more than a couple of times for some information and didn't see a need to register until now. I have a build based on E6600 but now I think I want to move on to a better build for the games that I've bought as well as other interests.

This will be my first build, the build before this wasn't really built by me. I've decided to build an i7 rig and I know it may not be easy that's why I hope the more experienced guys here can point me in the right direction.

So far I've chosen these components, whatever isn't listed here means I'll be re-using it from my previous build. This is what I want in my build:
1. Great graphics running on 1920 x 1200 resolution
2. Reasonable sound quality (I'm assuming I have to get a sound card instead of using the onboard sound cards)
3. A good/stable system that will last me for quite a while and help jumpstart my overclocking "adventure"
4. Possibility of extending to a dual GPU set-up
5. RAID is a possibility but not in the foreseeable future.

My choice of hardware:
1. Motherboard: undecided (caught between the eVGA X58 Classified/ LE/ Rampage II Extreme)

2. PC Case: Lian Li PC-V2010

3. CPU: Core i7-920

4. RAM: Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D (I've heard that RAM running at 1.65V could damage the CPU severely especially when I'm overclocking I increase the risk of doing so, so would this RAM kit be suitable for my build?)

5. HDD: I'm sure a decent western digital will give me no problems. I'm also planning on getting an SSD for my OS and other frequently used applications which will be an Intel SSD X-25M Gen 2

6. Graphics card: should I be getting the latest 5970 or the 5870 or 295?

7. OS: Windows 7

8. PSU: Enermax REVOLUTION85+ 850W (My friend suggested this to me due to Enermax's reliability in PSUs)

9. Sound card: unsure

My top priority is getting a compatible and stable system together next would be costs. What do you guys think of it? What can be improved, changed? Thanks!

I think I have a buyer for my 3 components for about $350. Maybe $400 with an x1950 pro thrown in.

The 3 new components, I can get for about $500 excluding tax / shipping.

I've only got about a $200 dollar out of pocket budget, so if my sale goes through, it'll be about $550-$600.

What do you think about my new combination? Can I do better?

I'm having a really wierd problem with my overclock and audio in games. I know its my OC because at stock the problem goes away. Here's my rig:

evga 680i mobo revision a1
q6700 oc'd to 3.33 - p95 stable 24hrs at 1.43v - 1333 fsb - 10x multi
OCZ reaper pc-8500 at 1066 5,5,5,15 2t
evga 8800 gtx ko edition

voltages

vcore 1.43
vdimm 2.25
fsb 1.4
spp 1.5
mcp 1.3
spp < > mcp 1.4

i just started overclocking this summer. Got my rig locked in stable at 3.25 ghz. Then upgraded to win 7, and decided to up the OC a little to 3.33. Worked, stress tested sucessfully, thought i was done...

When I play games, notably crysis and dragon age, my on board realtek high definition audio drivers do not play nice with my overclock. After about 30 seconds I start to hear poping noises, then the sound cuts out completely after about 3 mins... and then "swwwwwiwshssshhshshshshs" it sounds like a plane is landing in my office. I'm serious i get this crazy garbled sound for about 10 seconds, and i have to lower the volume quickly to avoid blowing out the speakers (and my wife's ears). The sound eventually comes back up if i keep playing, but then the process repeats itself shortly after.

It sounds like graphical artifacts look... if that makes any sense.

This is really annoying. I've tried reverting to vista drivers, as well as the newest win 7 drivers. Muted every other audio device excpet the speakers, reduced the quality to 16 bit cd quality. The only thing that works is reverting to stock speeds and voltages in the bios.

I'd like someone to give some sugesstions about voltages. Specifically spp, mcp and spp <> mcp. Could that be the problem? are they to low, to high?

Alternatively the problem only happens in games. Which led me to believe it is a dx11 problem, since the realtek drivers only support dx10. but when I run media player or itunes with visualization, there are no problems at all with music playback. Nor are their any issues on the internet with flash videos or music.

I'd rather not have to buy a sound card but, i'd be willing to if i can't fix this problem.

Any ideas? If this isn't the approriate forum, let me know and I'll post in the intel mobo or cpu forum.

Thanks in advance for your time, much appreciated.

First reaction: MAN is it thin! I mean, holy crap, I can fit this in half a goddamn envelop!

He paid a handful at 1500$ CAD, but it did leave an impression on me which forced me to tuck my NC10 back into my bag. However, I checked the specs on it, and this is what I got: { Atom 2.0GHZ + 2GB RAM (not sure whether it any sort of video card) }. Now, I have hear that the Atom 1.6GHZ in most netbooks is of somewhat a weird processor (out of the usual in some way).

So I wonder, do you guys think that this high end ultraportable, with it's Atom 2.0GHz, has a similar type of "weird" processor?

As the tittle suggest, this is my first build. I have so far picked a few of the items I need but need help with the rest. Any suggestions for alternative/cheaper options would work best.

Anyways, a friend is also helping but his suggestions were to get a core i7-920, 6gigs ram, and an ati graphics card (4870s are a good deal now he says), motherboard, psu, and case. I will be ordering the parts off newegg.com
My budget is around $700 to $900 USD. Liquid cooling is not a must but it would be ideal. Will take any feedback.

If this helps, I'm looking to run Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead and World of Warcraft at optimal settings (currently I get maybe 20 fps in a major city/raid, I would like somewhere in the 100-200 area). I am a hardcore gamer and would love to have a pc that can help my performance instead of hindering it due to lack of performance.

2. Processor
3. Graphics card (kinda optional)
4. Memory (1-2 gb is fine)
5. A PSU (unless a 350 watt one will suffice)

Im on a very low budget of $250-300.

Things to keep in mind:

I don't play games much or at all.
Ask questions.

Heres what I was looking at so far:

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131393

Anything better for cheaper or same price?

Processor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116265

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341022

Memory:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231049

think thats good so far?

If i got the rebates, that'd be around $160-200 right there.

I suggested AM3, but he doesn't really care about energy efficiency, and I've been told that i5 has better performance per $ (can OCN show me benches? I haven't seen/found any good ones). We're also going to go for ATI graphics. The budget is "around $1000" with monitor, input devices, and Win7, but I think I can go as high as $1200 if its worth it.

I have no idea what to do for motherboard, but I'm going with the i5 750 (good choice?) and the 4890 (probably XFX since sapphire screwed up their CS).

I was pushing for a 640gb, but another friend said to go with a 1TB just because.
Speed wise, what's best? I know the 1tb will have slightly slower seek times, but in general, what should we go with? Are the samsung spinpoints still good 1TB drives? What about the WD Green vs Blue vs Black drives?

Feel free to tweak any/all components, even the ones that I've already "decided" on. My friend is looking to order as soon as possible btw.

Thanks in advance for any input!
