Default How To: Flash Your Razer Copperhead to Newer Firmware

Here is how to flash the firmware of your Razer Copperhead.

Before you update the firmware make sure you have installed the newest drivers.

The firmware is available from here. This comes with the drivers.

There is also a new version of the firmware on its own available for download. This is just below the drivers and firmware on the page above

Flashing your firmware will not void your warranty

Read this through before you start!
  1. Open the driver menu.
  2. Click the Config | Save/Load Settings option.
  3. Click on Update Firmware.
  4. A window will appear, you then need to find the firmware. The firmware file will located in the same directory as your driver files. Select the firmware file and click ’Open’. The file should look like this, ‘XXXXX.s19’, but with numbers where the X's are. After you click open, a new window will appear.
Then follow its instructions. They are also shown below.
  1. Disconnect your mouse from the USB port.
  2. Locate the profile button on the bottom of the mouse.
  3. Press and hold the button down. Without releasing it, plug the mouse into the USB port. (2 people may be useful here)
  4. Once you have plugged in the mouse to your computer, release the Profile button.

Once this step is completed, your mouse will go into firmware updating mode. In this mode, the lights in your mouse will be de-activated.

At this point, the mouse will be non-operational, so to be able to continue, you will either have to use the keyboard, or plug in another mouse

  1. If this is your first time updating the firmware on this USB port, another window will appear. Click on “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and click “Next>”.
  2. The window will change to one with searching options. Tick the box next to this line: “Include this location in the search:”.Type in the location of your driver and click“Next>”.
  3. It will then ask whether to continue as the software hasn't passed windows logo testing. Click continue anyway.
  4. The Software will now install with progress show in the window
  5. After the firmware is installed, click the “Finish” button.
When this is finished and successful, follow the instructions in the window to begin using the mouse again.

If the firmware update is unsuccessful, a window will say 'Sorry, Update Failed' Follow the instructions in the box to try to rectify the problem.

If it still doesn't work, it could be that your mouse is up to date, or there could be a problem with it. If that is the case, you should start a ticket on the Razer Zone website.

You might want to note that you will need to push enter or have a second mouse to click ok and flash the firmware.
