I posted this a while ago, when FAQs couldn't be submitted, so I thought I'd turn it into an FAQ
__________________Edit - This also works for the Extraction Point Demo In FEAR, I was a little dissapointed that such a graphics orientated game could not run at my native resolution (1280 x 1024). However, if you tweak some files, you can run it at any resolution. First, set up all the performance settings in game, but leave the resolution. If you do this afterwards, it will get overwrited. Then, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR Or, for Extraction Point: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\TimeGate Studios\FEARXP-SPDemo and open settings.cfg with notepad. Then simply tweak it where it states "screenwidth" "xxxx" and "screenHeight" "xxxx". Then, make this file Read Only. (Right click, Properties) NOTE - If you go into Display settings in game, it will overwrite this file. Here's the results of the 'test' feature included in-game, all settings are highest, including softshadows, running on: Pentium 4 650 (3.4GHz) 1GB DDR2 533MHz, 7800GTX. 1024 x 768: ![]() 1280 x 1024: ![]() And 1280 x 1024 with my current SLi - 2GB Ram rig: ![]() In game it looks fantastic. Hope this helps
