To be honest most speaker manufacturers will recommend you take them off if you need to do critical listening but to replace them when finished

TBH - most speaker manufacturers are crud, and will recommend anything so long as you do not RTB (DOA) the speakers - on or off makes no difference AT ALL with 99% of spkr canb.

Professional-level speakers (or monitors) do not recommend anything as their build-quality is far, far superior to that of the generic manufacturers.

Grill on or Grill off is, for the most part, completely irrelevant unless you are in a studio environment and using studio-quality monitors - and even then the difference is negligible IF AT ALL noticeable.

I would not entertain *critical lsitening* with ANY PC desktop speaker system (including your creatives et al).

Just my tuppence worth.
