Default How to get better&louder sound from your Speakers

Ok if you wan't to learn how to get better and louder sound from your speakers in just one easy step, this is how you do it. All you have to do is take off the fabric or slik like screen off them so you see the speaker it's self. The reason why it should sound better and louder is because the sound waves arent let's say stop by the screen covering the speaker. There are some hazards to this but there easy to prevent.

1. Don't let drinks or any liquid on the speaker.

2. Clean carefully and often of any dust cause it could be bad for it.

3. This is the most important one of all dont rip it or you have to get new speakers!!

This is my first faq tell me what you think

Interesting, but not totally true.

I read an article a while back where they used an SPL meter on 3 test tones (200hz, 1000hz, and 7500hz) and there was less than half a dB of difference between grills on or off, which is not audible to most people. I'll see if I can't find an online version.

Also, the foams/cloths that go into the grills are specificly designed to not limit the sound waves, and they've pretty much got it nailed.

true...

But half a dB is audible...

2 decibels on the dB scale means twice as loud...so...half a decibel is a lot technically...

Either way, I'd rather keep my screens on and not have to clean them...

Not true. It depends on where the difference in the scale is. If it is between 0 and half a dB, its probably not audible. But between 100 and 100.5 its probably audible. The difference in SPL between dB is larger the higher you go on the dB scale. so the difference between SPL between 1-2 dB is much lower than the diference in SPL between 100-101 dB.

I agree. This is because the scale is exponential. Therefore the difference is also exponential for an absolute difference.

How about what it looks like? I took my screens off for the sole reason of the bare speakers looking a hundred times better.

The grills protect my speakers from being covered by dust, it's sort of acceptable for not hearing .5dB than having to clean off your speakers by some weird ways and accidentally damage it!

o.O Take off the grills and you get better sound? Sigh I thought this FAQ might give more insight into speaker placement. I found the perfect spot for my bass but my rear left and right I'm having trouble with.
