Ok, I was looking around and didnt see this so if this is already in here somewhere just delete it. This will simply tell you how you can easily remove your recycle bin icon from your desktop if your like me and keep a clean icon free desktop!
__________________First: Click the start bar. Click "Run" Second: In the run bar type in "regedit" (without the quotations) Third: Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click that. Then click SOFTWARE followed by clicking Microsoft. Click Windows, than CurrentVersion, than Explorer, than Desktop, and finally click NameSpace. Fourth: Find the following key: 645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E Fifth: Delete that key and close the registry editor. Now refresh your desktop. Your icon for the recycling bin should dissapear! *NOTE: To restore the recycle bin simply recreate that key in the same location and refresh your desktop!

Always wondered about that because I have a garbage can widget and no longer need the recycling bin. Thanks for the FAQ :D

Google remove recycle bin and you will find on the first links little programs that will WRITE and not REMOVE a new registry entry that will allow, rename, delete the recycle bin. But it will still be avaiable in the sense it still exists.

Maybe the comments here should be cleaned up, for they've gone from a nice faq, to a not so nice comment, because the creator of the faq is pi's'd off regarding OTHER options to do this, and thinking his way is the best and ONLY way.
__________________Sorry to point that out, but it's a nice faq, but I don't go deleting registry options w/out seeking other options prior, because I could seriously f* up the registry by just deleting a key you say could do this. Which is great that it does work, by other comments, but i'm not tempting fate. Have a good day, but don't whine and dine about all the other suggestions man! It's a faq, AND you can improve on it with their comments by suggesting alternative options IN your faq if you updated it! Making it a more solid and enjoyable faq!!! With respects, hope you appreciate this comment, Le_Loup

Le Loup, you think he is lying?
"i'm not tempting fate"! Why would ClaytonCallihan make this FAQ if he wasn't telling the truth on it...i think not.
