Default How to: Overclock your nVidia card under linux.

This is a short FAQ to show you how to enable Coolbits (and thus overclocking) in linux.

Step 1 - Make sure you have the latest nvidia linux drivers.

Step 2 - Log in as root and open /etc/X11/xorg.conf in your favourite editor.

Step 3 - Under Device add:

Option "Coolbits" "1"

So, the device section looks like so:

Code:
Section "Device"
	Identifier  "Videocard0"
	Driver      "nvidia"
	VendorName  "Videocard vendor"
	BoardName "nVidia Corporation Unknown device 0391"
	Option	    "Coolbits" "1"
EndSection
Restart X by either rebooting your machine or typing this into a terminal:

Code:
init 3 && init 5
Coolbits is now enabled under the nVidia Display Settings app.

Wow man, I have no idea about how you figured this out, but it's really needed for us overclockers.
