I'm not debating the quality, for 400$ you'd BETTER get something.... but I'm nearly certain that the cards don't have traditional phono RCA Left and Right outputs. That's all that I'm debating.
It's my OPINION that these cards, though surely quite good, aren't NECESSAIRY for good sound. The sound effects, as many audio enthusiasts would tell you, are mostly tweaking gimmics. An example of this is pretty straightforward: why would George Lucas take the time to produce an 5.1 audio track in his multi-million dollar recording studio only for sombody to press some buttons and have Creative "fix" it. Audio effects can be used, but it's not how the artist (for CD or 5.1) intended it.
P.S. I'm not offended by your opinion of my hearing... yet. I personally doubt you undersand what I mean by stereo RCA outputs, I might not have expressed myself clearly. Maybe you don't realise that my personal stereo beats the living crap out of any computer speaker you'll ever hear, and that I do have a reasonably high level of expertise in this paticular field.... I've posted a thread in the Overclock Sound Card Forums, you're welcome to chime in:
