The one with the heatspreader off, I'm guessing.

I've heard that you can get even better temps by removing the heatspreader entirely, and that it's only there to prevent chipping or cracking the CPU core - what is the honest to god likelyhood of that happening?

Well, the heatspreader isn't all that great at transferring heat, which is why the super-extreme overclockers try and get the heatspreader off the chips...now, i wouldn't reccomend it...

i pulled the heatspreader off my 1.5 willimett and my celly northy and it improved the tepms by like 5c ;) but dont do it to a PRESCOTT tomshardware did that and it riped the core in half

i added a bit of as5 to my cpu. my temps shouldn't be around 40 when not overdosed...

I don't have the balls to rip off my heatspreader...althought it's painfully inefficient, I don't want to risk cracking teh core on my northy...

it wont they use paste on the northys not adhesive like on the prescotts just makeshure u use a rasor blade and keep the cutting edge pointed at the heatspreader and dont cut too far in only like 2/3 cm on all sides ;)
