Default Opinion: Sample builds for different budgets

These are just a rundown of some build that I think are decent for some different budgets.

Only 4 components are included (the rest are up to you) but others may be mentioned in the notes. I'll try to include overclocker friendly parts.

All prices are from www.newegg.com

This is my opinion only.

LOW BUDGET

Such a computer is sufficient for the occasional game, web browsing but probably isn't good for rendering or video editing. Games may have to be tweaked (ie. Lowering settings) to achieve decent framrate.

CPU: Athlon64 3700+ $95
GPU: Nvidia 7300GT $85
M/B: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe $110
RAM: Corsair VS 512MB PC3200 $55

Total: $345

Note: If you have some extra cash, one gigabyte of ram costs about twice and would be a decent upgrade. The San Diego core has known to clock to 3Ghz, so is very overclockable.

MEDIUM BUDGET

Such a computer is sufficient for some video editing, decent gaming resolution and will be able to play most games at medium settings.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6300 $190
GPU: Nvidia 7600GT $140
M/B: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 $120
RAM: Corsair XMS2 PC5400 1GB $145

Total: $595

Note: The XMS2 ram is chosen because it is an amazing overclocker. If you want to, the Corsair VS mentioned before would be just as functional but make sure you get the DDR2 version.

HIGH BUDGET

Such a computer is sufficient for video editing, and will be able to play most agmes on high to max settings. Resolutions are still limited to 1280x1024 but framerate will be relatively high.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6600 $315
GPU: Nvidia 7950GT $290
M/B: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 $150
RAM: Corsair XMS2 PC5400C4 2GB $260

Total: $1,015

Note: Along with this, a case with nice airflow is recommended to achieve the best possible results.

ULTRA BUDGET

Such a computer is sufficient for serious video editing, high resolution gaming at max settings with very high framerates.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6600 $315
GPU: Nvidia 7950GX2 $500
M/B: Asus P5B Deluxe $190
RAM: Corsair XMS2 PC6400 2GB $280

Total: $1,285

Note: A high resolution monitor is recommended (1600x1200) for a very nice gaming experience.

NO BUDGET

Such a computer is sufficient for any video aditing, and gaming at the highest reolutions at max settings, with high quality settings (AA and HDR) turned to the max.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo X6800 $950
GPU: Ati X1950XT Crossfire $900
M/B: Asus P5W DH Deluxe $250
RAM: Corsair Dominator PC8500 2GB $400

Total: $2,500

Note: A very good cooling system along with a very high quality monitor wis required to make the most of such a computer.

CONCLUSION

The truth is that everyone has different needs. For most people the “high budget” computer will more than satusfy.

You may notice that the Ati cards only come in the top bracket and this is because everywhere else, I thought the nvidia cards offered better value and performance.

Some may belive I have been unfair to AMD, but trust me, the performance figures show it all. If K8L is really that great, I will update for sure ;).

Once newer parts become availiable, I will again fine tune this list.

You should atleast factor in the cost of PSU's and HDD's and stuff i mean common a comp is made up of more than just a mobo, a cpu, some ram and a gfx card.
