Default Info: What is the best pencil to volt mod with?

You have to look at the numbers and letters on the side. If the only letter is B, then your pencil will contain more graphite because it is a shading pencil for artists. These are best for vmodding. Then look at the number to left of the B. It can go anywhere from not having a number to a 8. Essentially, the higer the number, the more graphite there is. Pencils with an HB on the side are made with some filler so these aren't as good. If there is pencil that has only the letter H, steer clear! It has high amounts of filler and they are the bad at conducting electricity so stay away from these. Hope this helped and tell me any corrections or suggestions you might have.

So, from best to worst here are the pencils you'll want to vmod with,

8B *Best*
7B
6B
5B
4B *Better*
3B
2B
B
3HB
2HB *Mediocre*
HB
F
H
2H
3H
4H *Worse*
5H
6H
7H
8H *Worst*

If you're creating a trace with graphite from one side of the resistor to the other, is it effective to just draw the trace on the PCB from the one contact to the other? Or do you have to coat it heavily?

I will be using a 6B artist pencil for the job :)
