I tried the Omega drives and they screwed up my computer, and radlinker dosn't keep it's clock. And I spent about half an hour trying to get everything to work again.

Well I thought to give this a try and downloaded the atitool and radlinker. When I opened the 3d view my rig shut down and wouldn't reboot. What could be going on?

Great FAQ! You've started me off on the road to deeper understanding of video cards and overclocking them. But I have a question about ATI tool:

I see that you can save certain overclock settings, so it would be helpful to know this:
Sure, I can easily get a great overclock using your method or the max core/memory buttons, but what about temperature efficient overclocks? What is the effective core:memory overclocking ratio is what I should know first, I guess. After I find that out I can apply it to overclocking my core in general, then slowly lowering until I get to my desired temperature.

The idea behind overclocking your graphics card is to get the highest core and memory clocks without artifacts. The artifacts are caused by the graphics card heating up above the temperatures that it runs efficiently at. Therefore, having a temperature efficient overclock is the same as having the highest stable overclock. As for ratios, the best way to find out what is fastest is to tweak and run benchmarks. There is no set ratio. It's experimental, and every GFX card is different from another. It takes time, but thats where the fun is.

I did as you instructed, but after reaching something like 550/600, my comp just freezed.. the temperature was always a steady 65-70, and no artifacts.. just hanged...

I`ve got Sapphire X300 SE HM on PCI-E.

Use ATI Tool and when OC`ing just a little bit +40 on Core and on Memory it just heats up. As it has a passive cooling, I attached a 80mm fan, so that cool air gets on to radiator and on memory. But even though the memory itself gets very warm.

As I said I`m overclocking just a little bit, but it gives me +500 in 3DMark03.
Stock - 2100, OC 2600

Have tried looking for MAX memory - but after a minute my card is hell hot and Ati tool is not even thinking to stop!

Has anyone got this particular card, and what is the MAX Mem and Core you can get?
